Mistakes in submitting DS-260

Dear VJ Family,

I am nervous while sharing that my attorney submitted the DS-260, but when i reviewed it , there were almost a dozen errors/mistakes they made into DS260" as follows:

-Mistakes in previous marriage divorce dates.

-Mistakes in residence addresses.

-Mistakes in schools attendance dates.

-Mistakes in passport issuance & ending dates.

-Mistakes in showing me over-staying for 2 month in US , after finishing training, which I stayed for 1 months and thats allowed to J-1 visa holders.

-Mistake in Visa refusal question. Instated of saying "Yes" she said "NO."

-Current job nature: "Fiance" instead of Finance.

-Wrong name of degrees/diplomas

I am not sure what to do, the attorney said they will write a letter to NVC for 2-3 important corrections to make e.g. visa refusal, last marriage annulment dates, or not over staying in US etc but will leave the rest of the mistakes as raising others could murky the water for the officer looking over your application.

GOD , help us.

Please give us your valuable input/suggestion.

PEACE & LOVE

I would call thr NVC and ask for the DS-260 opened again and fill it out yourself.  Explain there are a multitude of mistakes made by your lawyer.

They may not do it but document the mistakes and upload it on CEAC.

Hopefully your attorney is doing pro bono work.

You need to contact the NVC at (603) 334-0700 https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/national-visa-center/nvc-contact-information.html

I am so sorry to hear this. I cannot offer much advice but just wanted to send my thoughts and well wishes. I am appalled that your lawyer didn't have you look it over before submitting it. I thought that was standard.

Dear aphrOdite, your comments made my day. It is very nice of you for your well wishes  to have some moral support in the COVID isolation. Empathy does wonders. Stay safe. God bless you.

I think because of embassies being shut down they might be willing to open this back up to you. Dang so sorry for this major mess up. But note this even if they don't open it up you can always update at the interview. So don't fret about it and it will all work it's way out.
Again so sorry but your positive attitude will take you far in this mess.

You should send an email to NVC and request them to re-open the DS260s to make corrections. Just explain that you want to make corrections in DS260 and they will unlock it for you to make the corrections. Good luck.

I made a mistake in my DS260 and called NVC, who advised me to send a case inquiry to them and also email the embassy. I did both, and both the embassy and NVC told me to bring it up at the interview.

It's worth asking them since for you, there are more mistakes but for me, they wouldn't unlock it.

Sorry about your lawyer. :(

The question is, you had to print and sign it so didn't you even read it?

Nope, its online submission not in hard form/copies. So there is no question of print or signing the application. but the lawyer should have given us opportunity to review before its submission. Thanks
