   I heard Gunnison county ordered anyone living in a "second home" to leave the county. Although I also heard they eventually decided to allow people to stay if they had already been sheltering there since the restrictions were put in place. Not letting anyone in can at least be justified from the standpoint of not allowing transmission into the county. Seems stupid to make people leave if they have already been staying there this whole time.

Well I am not in Gunnison and the shelter in place is State wide and the vergage refers to staying in your residence, my County considers that you primary residence.

  Right, but the state doesn't say anything about primary residence. Many rural counties have limited medical facilities so I understand they didn't want part timers coming up there and adding to that. It's mostly a local issue though. I know a lot of people in Denver who have second homes or cabins in Grand Lake. I don't think it works in reverse. It's a specific issue for those counties.

 

  The state hasn't considered it an issue worth addressing, although I believe stay in place would mean you can't keep going back and forth between homes. I know a few people who left the city to stay at their cabins, but they haven't been coming back AFAIK.

The State wording uses the term Residence, now I do not know what they meant by that, if that includes sencond homes. The people I know do go back and forth, well in one case she has issues that make her at risk and he goes back to work and then comes back up. Another one has to go back down to Denver but is basically working from home most of the time up here. Uses the trick back down to get shopping in.

One County closed all the Hotels, I was told yesterday the State closed AirBnB's so they seem to have a different definition.

Seems a little extreme.  In states where one can drive all day and not see as much as a yaller dog, where would one stop when one is too tired to drive any farther?

I'm here in the Fl Keys this past week at my second home.  The entrance to the Keys was closed about two weeks ago to those that were not residents or home owners.  I wrote last week about the trouble we had entering, but we beat the system.  As far asI know it's the only place in FL that has such a restriction.  A county enacted restriction.

 

It has been a great time however.

That is where Whitmer was a little bit different.  She specifically restricted travel between residences for all MI residents (does not apply to out of state residents).  That is why a couple is suing her/MI as they are now stuck in their vacation residence.  One might ask, why did they not leave before the order took effect.  Who knows, maybe they were unplugged and didn’t get the notice until it was too late.  There was less than 24 hours notice from the Governor.  But at least people can still wait in line for their daily 3 picks and drive hours to a state park.  No boating with a motor allowed, no golfing except for private clubs.  Quite a lot of naturally socially distant type activities outlawed by the MI governor.
