Earlier in the day, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said fear of catching the virus would not qualify voters to vote by mail. Paxton’s office is expected to appeal the decision.

Good. Considering who the candidates are, giving older people a chance to vote without possibly dying is a good thing. It's worked in other states, so I don't see why not.

Why don't all elections get run by mail? I don't understand why taxes get filed by mail but there is no voting.

Far too much potential for fraud.

Note the recent GA & FL elections, when boxes and boxes of ballots kept being discovered.

They were in the trunks of people's cars, some of whom weren't part of the election chain.

Mysteriously, the ballots had the marked effect of helping the Democrat catch up.

Heritage foundation has collected the data on absentee ballot fraud and documented 208 cases since 1991. That is statistically insignificant and pales in comparison to those denied the right to vote because of mobility, transportation or lineups at the poll.

If our system (politicians and other elected officials) was rife with honest people, it would work.

 

Recently, I saw a news piece on ballots that had, on the outside of the envelope, whether the voter was voting democrat or republican.  Now WHY would that be?  Either side could take advantage of that knowledge and toss envelopes.

 

Absentee ballots work, but take a LOT more time and effort I imagine.  I vote via mail, but I will NOT mark a choice on the envelope, should one be printed.  I'd probably glue an index card (very well) over those choices.

There is very little evidence of fraud when the ballots are sent from the election office and signed by the voter. 

There is an abundance of evidence that long lines, reduced polling locations, machine malfunctioning and tabulation errors deprived voters if their rights.
