I went to see an attorney that was Filipino right after I got married and got back to my home in Vegas and was very unimpressed with her knowledge and her fee schedule ! I wound up doing the I-130 and I-129 myself with the help of this website. I'm hoping to find out very soon whether I did everything correctly or not. Because my wife and stepdaughters birth certificates were wrong and they've never had passports, live out in the Provence , and my wife will have to fill out the visa packets, etc. , she did seek help from a attorney near her home. If you follow the instructions both on this website and what comes with the USCIS forms you shouldn't have a problem.

I-130 Process

3-20-07 NOA 1

3-23-07 Touched

9-12-07 Touched ( because of phone call )

9-13-07 APPROVED

I-129f Process

4-09-07 Touched

5-07-07 Pending at CSC

9-12-07 Touched ( because of phone call )

9-13-07 Touched

We had an Attorney and it was a mistake, not only that it cost too much, he caused us lots of delays. I learned more from the forums on how the process goes, If I had known earlier about forums like this, we would not have retained the service of that Attorney. Attorneys are sweet talkers, if you don't know the process, you would get enticed with what they say, and later found out that it is not that hard to file the petition by yourself and just follow instructions within the packets, and if you have questions, just ask here in the forums and everyone is nice and helpful and you will be just fine.

hi there again...just wanted to know who among here availed the service of an immigration lawyer to 'hopefully' fasten the process? is it advisable to hire one?

That (bolded) can not happen. There's nothing you can do outside of being in *very* select situations that can speed up the process. The only thing an attorney or immigration expert assistant is going to do is make the process easier for you. If you've got a complicated case an attorney may be the best option. If you've got a simple petition chances are an attorney is only going to cost you money and possibly more time. Most attorneys will consult you for free and an honest one will tell you if his/her services are necessary. ;)

I hired someone - not an attorney but someone who is very experienced in Philippine/US immigration - to assist us with the process. I probably didn't need to but it was worth the $$$ to have someone to ask about specific questions we were unsure about. If you want his info PM me and I'll pass it on to you.

It may be a lot easier for a well educated doctor with access to most everything than your average pinay from the province tho!
