What's crazy is that many people are latching on to this idea that China used this pandemic as a form of biological warfare to hurt the United States economically. I have seen some really smart people touting this theory and the 5G theory. My wife is even buying into the biological warfare theory and she is a really smart woman:rolleyes:

People always want to find someone or something to blame when 'bad things happen to good people', when usually it is the most simple explanation.

But on Tuesday, the narrative flipped. It’s no longer a story shared by China bears and President Trump fans. Today, Josh Rogin, who is said to be as plugged into the State Department as any Washington Post columnist, was shown documents dating back to 2015 revealing how the U.S. government was worried about safety standards at that Wuhan lab. In fact, they were worried that one day, one of these experiments — including the one on bat coronaviruses — could escape and become a global nightmare.

Eh, it's a columnist. WaPo columnists are known for their very bad takes.

I'd be more worried about it being true if it actually ended up in the news part of the newspaper.

WaPo isn't leftist. It's centrist, at best. Do you really think a Bezos-owned newspaper is leftist? 😆

Yeah, keep telling yourself that.  Printing a center leaning story every so often does not make one a centrist organization.  Regardless, that really didn’t answer my question as to how to tell the difference between the supposed news portion and the opinion portion of WaPo.

Maybe there's just something wrong with your definition of leftist, caused by the current administration's political leanings.

WaPo is center-left. None of the big newspapers are leftist.

Their columnists shouldn't be confused with the news because if they were news, they wouldn't be printed as columns, they'd be in the news section, like all the actual news.

Yeah, Mediabiasfaxtcheck is unbiased.  Regardless, I was talking more of the “news” reporters actually acting like activists and importing their opinions into what is labeled as “news”.

Duh, it has "fact check" in the name! And they check media bias! Instant credibility.

The writers are overwhelmingly neoliberals, as the MSM overwhelmingly is. However, their content is very far to the left, and extremely biased, whether you're looking in the op-eds or "news".

Neoliberals aren't leftist. They're still what the rest of the world would consider center-right.

The US just has an extremely warped view of what's left and right.

I didn't say neoliberals are leftist. They are on the left end of the spectrum, but more "moderate". I was agreeing with you, but distinguishing their personal viewpoints from the ones they publish. Often times, when people say they are leftist, they are talking about their work.

The US doesn't have a warped view of what's left and right.. left and right is simply one paradigm. It's one standard. If you wonder why it's used so often, it's because of the behavior of people that finds itself predictably on a one and two dimensional scale. If the output of behavior was as complex as people are/try to make themselves out to be, they wouldn't behave in such predictable and easily classifiable ways.

In regards to your contrasting "the world" and "US".. I'm missing the part where I should care about this, maybe you can explain.
