Since he made even a fleeting comparison to the flu, he will be ignored.  

 

On the reasonableness of Israel’s unprecedented quarantine and closure, he commented to the news agency, “I think it's mass hysteria. I have no other way to describe it. 4,500 people die each year from the flu in Israel because of complications, so close the country because of that? No. I don't see a reason to do it because of a lower-risk epidemic.”

It doesn't take a professor to see this trend lol. Anyone watching the numbers in recent weeks can notice it, I even brought it up in conversation yesterday, because it appears that either some people can quickly become immune to it, or already are. That said, it's totally besides the point. The question is what happens during that time and how bad we let it become.

 

Warming up is a factor im sure (as mentioned before). However what this professor doesn't seem to realize is there's a major difference between southern Italy and northern Italy. The healthcare in northern Italy is exceptional. If it happened there it can literally happen anywhere. And almost did in new york, but they took correct action to prevent it or it would have. It did in Spain and other places. So once again, the point of all this isn't to change the natural trajectory of the virus which a 5 year old can figure out. It's to lower the sheer number of infected until that happens.

 

There's a major difference between spotting a trend, and comparing numbers. There seems to be a link from the article to some of the research in Hebrew so when I get home I'll take a look for sure.

So even thought those countries that did not do anything and those that took extreme measures seem to have the same outcome is a false conclusion?

They don't have the same outcome. They show the same trends. That's a major difference
