But a big part of having a visa is flying internationally. :(

This is a quote from the Philippine DOT,

"

The Department of Tourism (DOT) earlier said those planning to travel abroad after the two-month enhanced community quarantine would have to wait until next year.

“International travel might not happen this year. At this point in time, traveling (abroad) is but a dream,” Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat said during a virtual hearing of the House Committee on Tourism on Tuesday.

Puyat did not say whether such policy would cover domestic travel as she revealed plans for a “new normal” in the tourism industry.

The new normal will be implemented until a vaccine for the coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19 is found."

I seeing other articles that say otherwise.

The key words are "might not".  Might not is not official.

So basically this would mean anyone with a K1 visa in the Philippines will have to let their visas expire because nobody can fly. That would be so difficult on all of us if this is true!  Do we know if this article is talking about nonesstential travel or all travel?  Philippine air still has limited flights so I am not sure if we can totally trust that article 100%.

Other than repatriation flights,  PAL has been shutdown for a while.   Just visit the website

YMMV

There's a lot of confusing and fast changing information going on right now. But it appears today that the international travel ban is only for one week, and in fact now it only applies to inbound passengers.

From https://www.facebook.com/DOTrPH

"...the adoption of this TEMPORARY SUSPENSION of usage of all international airports for international inbound passenger flights, effective 0800 of 03 May 2020 until 09 May 2020. "

There is more explanation there of why this was done, and while it makes some sense, it is no doubt extremely frustrating to those in the midst of their journey.

As for the statements by the Department of Tourism about no travel for the rest of the year, I am assuming that they are not referring to travel related to family type visas.

Without inbound passengers,  no outbound passengers.   Airlines won't fly on leg empty.

YMMV

Thanks John for the clarification! Great information!  I can't imagine outbound flights being closed for a year.  That would cause everyone's visas to expire.  So good to hear it's temporary.
