Did anyone see this? It was on the History Channel tonight, a new series about truckers driving from Yellowknife north to the diamond mines on an ice road. Normally, when I see the hubby watching the History channel, I watch for a few minutes and then go do something else, but this totally enthralled me. I was loving some of the accents of the truckers (DEFINITELY Canadian!!!!)

I meant to watch it, but forgot all about it!! Watched Haertbreak Ridge instead!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

A friend of mine used to drive up north, he had some stories to tell!

I meant to watch that, but we didn't get home last night in time -- is it a recurring show or one time only?

Yes, it is recurring. Sad to admit, but I have set the DVR to record all of the series, just in case I miss it .... but am planning on keeping my Sundays at 10 free just so I can watch this show!

Hubby and I watched it. You can go to the history channel website and pre-order the whole DVD series and you also get the Modern Marvels DVD about Ice Roads for free. This is the kind of stuff the husband likes to watch.... Modern Marvels, Frontiers of Construction, etc...

i'll have to ask my fiance to start recording this on his DVR, sounds like a show i'd like a lot. my dad worked for environment canada for 37 years and did a LOT of trips up north to the small communities in NWT and YT. he's talked about some of the ice roads, and he's had some pretty interesting stories himself. sucks that i missed it, hopefully they re-air the episode from last night sometime this week again. was it the first episode of the series?
