Bezos makes $78.5 billion a year. He's worth $124.7 billion. There's no way to tax him until he's not rich anymore because he'll never not be a billionaire.

So you think we should put a 6% tax on rich peoples' net worth.  But that's unfair and inequitable, so let's apply that 6% tax on EVERYONE'S net worth (after all, it's only fair that all people are taxed fairly, eh?  Why should those who worked hard to get where they are, or inherited their families money, get taxed MORE than everyone else?)

So let's assume you make $50,000. Everyone, even the ultra rich, get their income taxed based on the same marginal system.  Now, you own a home (A reasonable family home worth $150,000), and pay property taxes and insurance on it as well as principle and interest.  Sweet.   So you've paid your income tax, and your property tax.  NOW, you must pay an additional 6% on your net worth (value of the home less what is owed). So $1,800 if you've already paid off $30k of it. Seems fair, eh?  An extra tax, just because.  Of course, it pales in comparison to what Bezos will pay - nearly $8 mil.  But you both did your part.  Oh, and don't forget to add the value of your car, your jewelry, your boat, or any other items that will add to your net worth.  Just another tax to tack on to what you already pay.  Why work for 85% when you can work for 75%, eh?

  Well it doesn't necessarily mean profits are earned overseas just because the corporate office is in the Cayman Islands. The issue is not even about earning profits in another country, it's about sheltering profits to avoid taxes anywhere. It's hard to envision a situation that would work better for tax avoidance than the current setup.

It really comes down to the fact that corporations do not actually pay taxes.  Cost of goods sold.

Yeah, I've been holding off on booking some stuff for better prices. I pulled the plug on some about a week ago after I was content with how far it dropped, but still waiting a couple more weeks on some others. If I am not able to go in the end(planned starting the middle of june), I will be able to change it with no fee, so that works for me.
