Disney furloughing 43,000 workers. Two airlines have closed their doors for good.   Other retailers laying off 600,000 employees.  Yes, 22,000 (and climbing) deaths are tragic.  But there is about to be another tragedy unfolding that not too many are talking about yet.  And it was totally preventable.

Marshal Law to prevent crime.  It is the logical next step.  As to DW, I wonder how much business they will actually get back if and when restrictions are lifted.  Social distancing is the order of the day, I keep hearing all those beautiful influencers and sports personalities telling us so.

It's already being done.  A flight from Detroit to Las Vegas oil Spirit is only $15 one way.  Cruises aren't going to happen, the industry is about to announce a shut down until June 27th any day now, I think.  First we have to get people over their fears, and THEN we have to wait until they have enough disposable income to spend.  The latter part will take TIME.

So do the politicians on the Left want people to get over their fears?

That seems a little drastic...
Providing people with an alternative income seems like it would be a lot cheaper too.

So we will rely on an entity that is a non-producer to provide an alternative income to 360 million people?  How does that work?

What "alternative income" would you propose?

And will it be enough, when we will soon be seeing over 1,000,000 people out of jobs?

Martial law isn't exactly cheap either.
I'd love to see the "but muh second amendment" people try to defend a Republican-ordered martial law though.

Nice side-step, but let's re-focus, eh?  What "alternative income" would you propose for 1 million who just lost their jobs?

Universal Basic Income.
While we're sidestepping, how is it that people are okay with martial law because people lost their job, but absolutely furious that churches need to close their buildings?

Universal Basic Income... and how will we fund THAT? Taxes?  Thin air?

Properly taxing the ultrarich and corporations. Not bailing out the cruise industry, considering how they operate. Shrinking the military budget, if a martial law is apparently a thing you can just call because poor people lost their jobs.

Are we also closing churches at that point or can they still stay open? There's a lot of people gathering there, so are we sure it's still safe?

So taking from the rich to support the poor, eh?  Bernie would be so proud of you.  I wonder how long we can sustain the USA off the backs of the "ultrarich"?  And what is the income level above which we shall apply these additional taxes?  How much does a person have to be worth, financially, to be required to support everyone else?  $3 million? $10 million?  $500 million?

There are plenty of tax plans out there that actually make that work.

I'm also curious what you think is going to happen once automation kicks in and a lot of jobs just disappear. What happens when everything from retail to production to administrative jobs start to disappear? If everything's automated, what happens to the majority of the population?
