Wait, what's all this about quantitive easing and Obama? The Fed is currently "printing" money like crazy and we're seeing huge QE under Trump right now. I don't follow this argument at all that QE was purely an Obama thing, because it's clearly not. Since when was Trump anti-QE? Did I miss something? Under Trump, we've literally entered "unlimited QE" because of the coronavirus situation:

LOL, this is the guy who claimed to have invented email, he's an anti-vaxxer and recently had a video deleted from YouTube because he claimed people could kill coronavirus by inhaling hot air from hairdryers. I don't care how many degrees he has. He's a crackpot and not to be trusted. Period.

Also, whenever I see the word "crushes" in the title of a YouTube video, I know it's sensationalist garbage. Doesn't matter what side the video is presenting.

So you didn't even watch the video to see what was being said. That's fine, but why bother telling us you refuse to hear it and see what is being said?  He's an expert.  Shame on you.

A lot of what he says is true, but millefleur is also partially right about the QE thing. What they say they're "for" or "against" in public matters somewhat, but actions matter far more, and tell us a lot more, namely, on this issue, who they nominate on the Fed. Trump nominated Michelle Bowman, who is a huge fan of QE. Trump has consistently tried to keep rates down, even when they should rise. So.. Trump is big on QE and permanent economic stimulus, and there's a cost to it. So blaming Obama for this is just silly. We already know Obama was a big fan of QE and artificial growth. Unfortunately, as long as we have managed economies, this nonsense will be a thing, regardless of who is President. I just think there was no reason to lie on that part. Just invites all this focus on the few things he was wrong on, but it was a really big thing to be wrong on.

An expert in what? He's an engineer and has taken an interest in food science. Why should I believe anything this person says? Just because he has a Ph.D.? My friend Caitlin is almost about to finish her Ph.D. (at last) and while she's brilliant, I wouldn't trust her outside of her area of expertise.

Right now, I trust experts in infectious diseases and immunology. I feel no shame about this. :) (Also, I did watch the first two minutes and realized immediately I was watching inflammatory garbage.) If Dr. Ayyadurai has something useful to say, and he might, he would do better to use fewer weasel words and present his argument as a scientist might, rather than a politician. Of course, he is both. He had a chance to be the former rather than the latter at the time more of the former would be useful.

Ok, let's disregard the QE portion of the video (about 20 seconds)....  What about the rest of it?

Watch it all the way thru, I challenge you. I get what you're saying, that he's not as smart as I am, but it's not going to taint your democratic roots, I promise.  He makes some very valid points.

I thought most of the other stuff was good, criticism of and health implications of social isolation, talking more about keeping the immunocompromised away from people rather than just destroying the economy and shutting everything down (I've already been saying this so was easy to get), I was a bit iffy on the part about vaccines.. agreed with some on promoting the immune system, not so sure about the leap about vaccines. Even on the vaccine thing he did give examples of why big pharma is not to be trusted, but "this" is not inherently "that". A virus like this does require experimentation. Someone has to test the vaccines, drugs, etc. Just like with HCQ. So he was a bit of a hypocrite there, but I understand why.. doesn't like big pharma.

He's made a lot of BS claims since January too. He chose to walk that path. Can't comment on this specific video though. I'm sure he's a brilliant guy, but he has no credibility left at this point.

No thanks! Life is short and garbage is as garbage does. Also, it has nothing to do with me being a registered Democrat and everything to do with being aware of how to sort wheat from chaff. :star:

You cannot sort anything unless you know what you have at hand to separate.  It's not garbage, at least in my opinion.  I don't agree with all he says, but most of it makes sense to me.  Then again, I prefer to hear/watch/read/listen to many people on all sides and make my own informed decision. (Except when it comes to Alex Jones.  He's just an idiot, as are flat-earthers).

You know,  I do make a point of listening to voices that challenge mine. I regularly read articles in the American and UK Spectator magazines and the National Review (and used to look at the Weekly Standard). I reassess my views on politicians I don't think I agree with, whether to the left or right of me. That's what I was raised to do: ask questions, even of myself. I try to be thoughtful and even-handed. If I come down more frequently on one side than another, it's through reflection, not reflexiveness.

But I also am sufficiently experienced to know when I am observing those who act in good faith, and those who do not. This person has said things that lead me to believe he is untrustworthy in general, because he had been untrustworthy in the specific. I am on guard, much like you (and all right-thinking people should be) are about Alex Jones. Now, does the good doctor speak more smoothly than Jones? Yes! But that means little. A person's reputation precedes him. This doctor's? Not so great.

So we can disagree without being disagreeable here, I think.

The head of the WHO is only a PhD.

Was that right after Al Gore invented the internet?  People seem to still want to listen to that hypocrite.
