Hello:

I appeared for an interview at the Mumbai consulate in Dec 2019 and got the approval. However, I could not leave for USA immediately and have tickets booked for April 17th. All flights are cancelled and I am unable to travel. Is there any guidance from the State Department on individuals in a similar situation? I am supposed to land in the USA within six months. Are they granting any extensions to this time period?

Please reply back if you have any information regarding this.

Under current circumstances you will be granted an extension To your visa. Or a new visa sticker from consulate.

you need to email them with any proof you have showing why you couldn’t leave the country and it was out of your control.

keep in mind you may need to pay another fee for this processing and go through medical nad biometrics again.

Visas cannot be extended.......The law allows consulates , at their discretion, to re-issue expired visas if the holder could not travel.  This will require a new medical, fees, and possibly other new documents.........
