This. And if they try to collect donations online, I would assume whatever 3rd party platform is making that possible would ding them with a fee. Not as good as that cold hard cash in the donation bin. Some church member software/web guy should set something up for them so they can avoid the fees usually collected by online money transfer services.

Zelle, Venmo, and PayPal have no fees if used properly.  My bank uses Zelle as well as their own app, and sending money is instantaneous.

Imho church services "could" be held online (zoom? Google meeting?) Or if they practiced social distancing like waiting in lines 6 ft apart to get in and sitting 6 feet apart.  Who is disinfecting the pews and books? Thats pretty important.  Is it every person 6ft away or just family groups. And i mean 6 ft in every direction.  Thats a really empty church.

We have local churches doing online sermons for people this weekend.

They could just stream on Twitch or Youtube too, which would be an easier way for people to give them money during the service. They also wouldn't be limited to the relatively low number of viewers and they'd have a way to automatically back them up so that people can watch later.

They should stream to protect their audience, a lot of them are elderly, sick or at least come into contact with people in those groups pretty regularly. It's ridiculous that they have to pretend like they're being singled out. God is supposed to be everywhere anyway, he's not going to care that you're not in the exact same building you're usually in.

Twitch! Yes would be the ideal way to do this so they can get donations.

People seem to think you need to be in a church to worship. Like as if their omnipotent omnipresent God doesn't know what they're doing at every minute of every day.

And if he doesn't, what's the point of praying at home in the first place?

Well that's generally the problem with some branches of Christianity. God-limiting. Putting the relationship in a box which is controlled by other people. That is what the mega churches have done for themselves, as a way to get money and power. Before Martin Luther nailed his thesis to the door, what was going on at the time? Oh.. the people couldn't read or write or understand the words of their Bibles, so they just did what they were told to do or suffer wrath. They paid constant indulgences to help the churches grow rich and powerful or else, suffer wrath. There was no relationship with god, only innate suffering within a box chosen by other people. Where are we at now? Hmm, not too different these days. Seems to be a pattern.

“church“

Greek word ecclesia.. the “ called out ones “ .... has  nothing to do with a building or location but everything to do with people

💕

let’s never confuse the “ church “ with the building where some people of faith gather from time to time.
