Hello,

I am preparing to file N400.. yeyyyyy

I have to answer YES to Part 12 Q18 regarding Weapons.

This is the question: "Did you EVER sell, give or provide weapons to any person, or help another person sell, give, or provide weapons to any person?"

I have a separate sheet with the explanation. I have nothing to hide, but I don't want anyone to jump to conclusions without having the chance to explain.

Here's what I came up with:

------------------------------------------------

Dear Sir or Madam,

In regard to my Application for Naturalization, Part 12 Question 18; the answer is YES. I have sold weapons to other people.

1.

Between February 2012 and September 2015, I was employed by Walmart in West Lebanon, NH. During said time period, I had the following titles: Temporary Associate, Department Manager, Overnight Inventory Associate.

While being a Department Manager, for about 10 month I was responsible for the Sporting Goods Department.

Part of my Job was to sell and process ATF Form 4473 Firearm Transaction Record, while following all State & Federal Laws & Regulations.

I would estimate the number of Firearms sold and transferred are somewhere between 10-20 that received a PROCEED Response from the FBI-NICS System.

2.

Secondly, my wife's dad, Chester, is into hunting.

Therefore, I had purchased legally, from a Federal Firearms Licensed Dealer a shotgun (FBI NICS Authorization: 37VLKDX from 05/17/2016).

A rifle was also purchased via Private Sale, with a New Hampshire Gun Bill of Sale pursuant to New Hampshire Chapter 159, based on my driving license and State of NH issued Pistol/Revolver License # R-616531 issued by Lebanon, NH Chief of Police on 3/31/2015.

Needless to say the excitement of Hunting was short lived, on May 10th 2018 I sold said shotgun and rifle via Private Sale, again, with a New Hampshire Gun Bill of Sale pursuant to New Hampshire Chapter 159.

Thank you,

Bogdan L.

Any advice/suggestions..?

Thank you!!

This is a fantastic letter. It's clear, detailed and (hopefully) covers all cases of sale and acquisition of weapons. I wish I'd seen your letter before I sent my own poorly-worded one. I had purchased a pistol at a gun show and later sold one to someone I met at a gun show. All done according to state and federal laws.

Just an FYI, your wife's dad is your "father-in-law." Also mentioning his name may or may not be relevant to the letter.

Finally, you might want to scrub the license/authorization numbers from your original post (if possible).

Just my opinion but YOU did not sell 10-20 people guns. Walmart did.  Nor do I consider being a sales associate means you were 'helping" Walmart (not a person either btw) selling guns.

No harm in including it in the letter though.

I would change the wording on the second part about father in law though. You understand the point of the question is to determine if you sold or gave weapons to people with out going through the proper steps right? In your letter you state Dad likes to hunt therefore you purchased 2 guns. Kind of sounds like you bought the guns for Dad at first. But then you say hunting was short- lived so then it seems like you bought them for yourself to join dad, found out you didnt like it and sold them.  Either way clean it up so it makes more sense.

Also do you have the paperwork from the private sale? Make sure to bring copies of it to the interview in case they want it.

I agree about the Walmart job, it was not you as an individual who sold the weapons. You were not the one who procured the weapons for sale, it seems you did not bare any responsibility for that as an individual. Walmart paid you for your work but not in direct relation to the procurement or sale of the weapon as I understand. The buyer bought it from Walmart, not from you.
