Bread and circus. Politicians know that people need a distraction, lest they focus on what the politician is doing. Throw out an abortion carrot, maybe ban some church stuff, that'll distract them for a while so they forget about the governor (or mayor's) uselessness.

So right.  Our governor is acting so much the nanny,it is getting sickening.

Medical can be the exception but I don't think it's well studied enough to know if it actually provides benefits. But I can support such an exception.

When it was medical in my State most sufferers seemed to be young and male. So who decides?

I'm very skeptical of medical marijuana in general but I guess it could be allowed for people with actual chronic conditions.

That is where it gets tricky as it becomes subjective.

The shelter in place order here in Ga is kind of a joke. Other than dining in at restaurants,  bars and barbers,  I have seen anything shut down.

Childbirth is very risky and has long term health effects. Abortion is always, always, I repeat, always the safest alternative. So yes, it is healthcare. No woman should have to risk her life and her health just because some random people said so.

You have said this before.  But I counter with... if pregnancy is such a dangerous prospect, then why do millions of women get pregnant every year?  Why, if you look at the animal kingdom as a whole, are there BILLIONS of births every year, year after year?  Sure, it has risks, but it's only in the last year or two I have heard people such as you trying to convince me that pregnancy is such a deadly game.

I know if I were a woman, and I thought pregnancy was so dangerous/deadly, I would make damn sure my pleasurable activities included measures to prevent that pregnancy  from happening.  As in BEFORE it happened.  So many choices out there.

Why would anyone want to go near a hospital or a Dr’s office if they did not have to at this time?

The very LAST place I would go today, unless I was dying and needed serious help.

Because if you actually shut EVERYTHING down (I agree that a craft store isn't necessary; but then one could argue neither are lumber and hardware stores), far too many business will go bankrupt.  Well, I guess that's too late, because far too many already HAVE gone out of business.  Thankfully, everything ISN'T shut down, because it need not be.  I can go to the store, get what I need, and never get within 6-10 feet of anyone, except the darn door guards they have, who crowd the entrance.  I don't touch the cashier, don't take a receipt, pretty much don't touch ANYTHING unless I have to.  Left hand dirty, right hand clean, until I get back to the vehicle and sanitize said left hand.  And of course wash the clothes and shower when I get home.

There's a window where "shutting down" things would have actually had a potential benefit, but even then it's somewhat iffy.

If the idea is prevention of a spread, they have to get to it early, but there's a potential that even if lets say the President and governors/mayors shut things down for a few weeks back in.. January, its possible that this virus was in the US earlier and so it only delays the spread.

This is where cultural homogeneity benefits. People that care about themselves, their communities, are going to learn to behave in a way that's conducive to bettering themselves and others around them that affect their lives. Naturally, the cultural "dgaf" mentality is going to be the worst off, and there's plenty of them.. so be it. People need to learn to help themselves.. even with a bigger government, it isn't, and cannot, save people from stupidity. And the bigger population we have, the more clear this is going to be. For the government, thankfully they have plenty of psychological tools at their disposal to pull the populace's critical attention away from them.

tl;dr-> People that rely more on the government to "do something" rather than change their own behaviors to be more self-preserving are going to wind up the biggest losers.

I have heard stories here in MI, people were pulled over for being too far away from home.  What a joke.  If I want to get in my car and drive up to see the Mackinac Bridge, I should be given that ability.  I do not need the government to impose its will for me to be responsible and practice physical distancing.  Our governor, Whitmer, is acting more like a nanny than a leader.  She should not be anywhere near the top ten on Biden’s list, she is no leader.

I hear it's the same in Wisconsin. You great lake folks aren't playing.

Was just about to say that. A woman can also elect not to engage in activities which may lead to pregnancy. She can elect not to "host [a certain] organ(ism)" into her body that would lead to the pregnancy in the first place (unless it was rape.)

I can't stand it when abortion is used as a form of birth control. I think it's immoral, but at the end of the day there's no way to really know why or how someone got pregnant and why they need to terminate it, so no way to prevent it.

That's obviously stupid, you don't die from gambling addiction withdrawal as you do from alcohol withdrawal. BTW, I don't approve of marijuana dispensaries being deemed essential either.

Marijuana helps with chronic conditions, PTSD, pain, and multiple other conditions, and contrary to another comment of yours, has been very thoroughly studied. It is 100% essential to keep medical marijuana dispensaries open.

For a while here they kept michaels, staples, etc open here and they just had lines where you had to stand for check out and stuff, but now it's all closed. you can still do curbside pickup, but you can't go into the store.
