   It would, but I don't think they really need to police it anymore than they need to stop a group of 3 or 4 people out for a walk. They have said that is OK to do. They are not yet requiring that we prove we are related to the people we are walking with. Local police issued a formal apology to a family who was out playing catch at the park. It was a group of 3 people and they threatened to arrest the father for refusing to go back home, then finally admitted they were not doing anything wrong by being at the park.

So when are these governors going to send in their police to make sure we are washing our hands properly?  It is getting more and more oppressive, and now governors are telling the feds they will need half a trillion dollars to make up for their lost tax revenues.  Wasn’t it the governors that closed down their states?  Time to start cutting state employees.

The governor's proclamation makes common sense, it is not targeting any faith group, just groups.  People need to  use their heads on this and understand that gathering in groups is not, as my neighbor claims, "washed in the blood of Jesus"

 

Shame on publications like the federalist that insist on puting their bigoted culture wars above the health of people.

 

"Gov. Beshear said Kentucky State Police will be recording the license plate numbers of any vehicle seen at the gatherings. Local health officials then will contact the people associated with those vehicles and require them to self-quarantine for 14 days.

“Folks, we shouldn’t have to do this,” the Governor said. “What we’re asking is for you to love your neighbor as yourself. We shouldn’t have to do this.”

Gov. Beshear also played a video featuring faith leaders from around the commonwealth, who all stressed that Kentuckians need to stay healthy at home this weekend.

“I want to encourage you to meet together separately this Sunday, to remind you that on that first Easter Jesus came to people behind locked doors,” Chris Michael, pastor of the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ in Owensboro said. “He will come to you as well.”

I seem to remember someone on here several weeks ago talking about how the economic impact will be much worse than the virus itself.  Let's see how this oppression pans out.

I'm anti spreading the virus and brainwashing people into believing that churches somehow are exempt from spreading deadly viruses. There are some reasonable churches that care about their people and have switched to on-line services only. But then there are the nutty ones. 

 

I am using the same standard for any other hobbies. I think the golf courses and bars should be closed, too, weddings and birthday parties should not be held now, etc.

It's funny to me how we're just now even starting to have a conversation about the same things most other countries had a conversation about many weeks ago. Some of us will agree with some of these decisions and some will think it's an outreach, just as some countries ended up implementing stricter measures and some stopped short. But the fact is we're even late to having that conversation.

Let people in who are wearing masks, and have masks available for those who show up without them.

If you're a born-again christian, wouldn't god protect one from getting the virus since one is going to church to worship him?

 

Golf courses?  That makes about as much as shutting down beaches.  Fresh air, sunlight, plenty of open space, very easy to stay more than 20' from each other.  I think all the bars in our area shut down a week or two ago.  Not sure, since I go into bars only a tad more often than churches.

Government action is exactly what is needed here. Masks are useful in addition to social distance, not instead

The problem is masks make people feel immune, and oftentimes they're not even wearing them correctly. Masks are no substitute for social distancing and hygiene.

No, no, and NO.  Government action will do nothing except aggravate people.  Masks do SO VERY LITTLE as compared to social distancing.  Unless you are wearing a properly fitted and sealed mask that has ZERO airflow around it, it only makes you FEEL safe wearing it, as you turn the corner at the grocery store and take a breath of the air that someone who just passed sneezed into, and the virus slides right around that mask and into your lungs.

 

people are getting a LITTLE better about distance, I think, but at the grocery store yesterday, 4 employees were standing together talking, less than two feet between them, and they were blocking my only way out of the aisle I was in.  I waited for about 30 seconds as they laughed and joked before I said, "Excuse me, I need to get by, and I cannot be as close to you as you are to each other."
