I read they are putting restrictions on booze sales in Chicago, so good to get stocked up.

Didn't know about that, but I should be OK as I bought the industrial size bottles of vodka and Jack Daniels at Costco today.  They were stocked to the ceiling.  Can't imagine anyone calling for restrictions on alcohol sales in FL.

I just got back from Whole Foods. It took about 15 minutes to get in and then another 15 to check out. Everyone was wearing masks and most were also wearing gloves. This was the first I was out since Monday (I think?).

Went to Costco today.  No mask, glove on left hand, clean right hand stuck in my pocket.

It is HILARIOUS to just watch people with masks and gloves.  Seriously, give it a try.  Touching their face, adjusting their masks, lowering it to get cooler air, walking around with it down, later putting it up.  Or the guy who had gloves on, picking up items and putting them into his cart... then grabbing his shorts and pulling them up, and pulling his shirt down with the same gloved hands.  Most people are simply ignorant on how masks and gloves are intended to work.  False sense of security.  For the most part, just a pretend show of resistance towards the virus.  90% would fail the red paint test.

I went to an LA Whole Foods today instead of my usual Santa Monica one because I had a tip the cheese situation was better. This is me in the line, or at least what I saw:

The cheese situation was good.

You seriously shop in Whole Foods???

Review banner

  • Walmart is the largest grocer in America in terms of sales, by a large margin.
  • Though not as big as Walmart, Austin, Texas-based Whole Foods is known for its natural and organic food options. Amazon acquired Whole Foods for $13.7 billion in 2017 and has expanded online ordering and deals for Prime members.
  • We went shopping at both grocery stores to see which was better, and we were surprised when the Amazon-owned store let us down.
  • The low prices and vast selection at Walmart made the shopping experience there vastly superior to the one at Whole Foods.

There is no Walmart near here. Whole Foods is a good choice. Especially if you can't wait for delivery. We needed fresh food and WF was full of produce, meat and fish. I didn't need much of anything else. Even the further away WF with the cheese I wanted was only 6 miles away. The nearest Walmart is over 15 miles away.

Lol, no Gelson's has been disappointing recently. Ralphs is a shitshow in terms of availability of what I want -- like, really, no decent half and half? Bob's is only for people who want to pay too much, sorry (though the liquor selection is excellent). WF has been decent. I laid in good stocks of basics -- rice, pasta, etc. -- and now I just need to top up with fresh stuff. While Ralphs and Gelsons are good for fresh stuff I have been disappointed and walked out last week. Bob's is um... whatever. And not anywhere really near me though I did try them once for flour. (No success.)

Meant to take a pic for you today in Costco (not sure there are any where you are).  Pallets of 50 and 25 lb bags of flour.  So weird how different the lack of items is in different areas.  I talked to a guy the other day in LA (the state, not the suburb) and he said TP has never been out.  But meats and cheese have been in short supply since this all began.  The opposite of what I have seen in FL.

I used to be Safeway/Costco, but Costco is a long drive and I can not really justify it in the winter, City Market (Kroegers) seems the best around here at the moment, Walmart has a poor selection of fresh food.

I do miss Borough Market for cheese.

That seems unusual for WalMart.  They seem to have a pretty good selection of fresh food in the South.  Must be a location thing.

Trader Joe is in CO and I do like them but also a really long drive 70 miles or so. They took over from Whole Foods for me, well there is one a lot nearer.

The best. We are talking about hiding them in clothes on the way back now. I will hide them so as not to jeopardize his status.

The really big ones are better, but not excellent, the  smaller ones suffer, well here.
