Now I'm wondering if when I was really sick just after Christmas whether I had coronavirus. I had a fever for over a week, body aches, exhaustion, a dry cough... Al was sick too and it lingered for both of us for just over two weeks. I'd love to take an antibody test if I could.

I honestly don't buy it. I also read they were saying it was in Italy in the fall of last year, and guess where that was brought up...in a chinese publication. This all seems like an effort to absolve themselves as if it didn't start there. I believe it erupted in Wuhan in November, no sooner or later. If it arrived anywhere else any sooner than that, you bet the hospitals would have gotten full of people with a "mysterious diseases", but they didn't.

Yep, been there, experienced that. 2017/2018 flu season was really nasty, I was still new to North America, and the flu shot didn't save me from getting the flu twice. It was actually a worse experience than the illness I had in March.

I have never gotten a flu shot. And I've never had the flu. It's honestly one of those shots that I'm totally "meh" about. However you bet I'll be getting a corona shot when those are out.

So sign up for the antibody test and find out for sure.  They are looking for volunteers.  Great time to become part of the solution.

I wish. Would be one of the first to volunteer in my area, even though I have no reason to suspect I've had it at any point. If I did I would have been totally asymptomatic, but I do wonder about it since I've been out and about daily even over the last 2 months.

My situation is a tad different than yours, but since I quit taking the flu shot over 5 years ago, I haven't had the flu either.

CA sucks for a myriad of reasons.  I'll let YOU figure them out, and then you will leave on your own accord.  Worked for me several decades ago.

We were talking about antibody tests.

And California is the only place in the US I can agree on living in because I can't afford the other places I like. If I'm moving out of state, there only destination is back home, I only need to convince my spouse, one day he'll come around.

Here's an analysis of possible herd immunity in California:

https://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2020/04/10/two-stories-indicate-coronavirus-herd-immunity/

And here's one (anecdotal) about the possible early appearance of Covid-19 in New York City:

https://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2020/04/10/nyc-construction-worker-thinks-he-had-coronavirus-in-december/

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

SO MANY options available in the US that are cheaper than CA.  And so many nicer places, as well.

Some of us like it here. :) And think other places aren't quite as nice. So we leave the rest of the country to people who appreciate the other parts to you. No insult intended.

None taken.  Your lack of experience living outside of CA does NOT make the other places "not quite as nice".  One only knows what one has experienced.  To each his/her own.

There's a reason California is expensive. You get what you pay for. Also, I couldn't live in a place where I don't have access to my country's food and ingredients, as well as other international grocery stores. No way am I going to spend the rest of my life shopping at a Walmart or Kroger. And I'm not going to be stuck in a soulless suburb. Back home or California.

I've traveled a lot within the US. I've found other places I like but none are close to how awesome California is. The places that I would consider moving to are even more expensive, such as NYC. But the weather is basically impossible to beat and I hate the cold and I'm not a big fan of humidity either.

I'm perplexed...CA is like one of the most expensive places you could live in.
