  It's looking very good. I hope they get it out there soon. It was one of the treatments I was most optimistic about from the start, and they have had success with it in the past. As a side note with Remdesivir and some of the other treatments, one of the most annoying things I keep coming across is how much of the research started with SARS in 2003, and then was just dropped because it was no longer profitable to continue.   I still think HCQ has a place, but I don't think it's for treating severe cases. They probably should be monitoring things like ferritin levels rapidly increasing and seeing if getting those people on HCQ earlier would make a difference. I just don't think it has potential in advance infection. The damage is already done. 

I mentioned that what seems like months ago, but probably just a week or so.  You could say the same thing relative to potential vaccines, and even though a SARS vaccine might not be completely effective against SARS-CoV-2, it would stand to reason that the research would have been helpful.

   I think governments might have to take it over the funding in theses cases, because I don't expect private companies to invest a billion dollars with no expectation of seeing a return. I hope governments would see that there could be an advantage to doing this though. If we could have prevented all this for a few billion dollars in grants, that would have been an amazing trade off. 

 

  They would have to weigh the cost against benefits I guess, but having already seen what SARS and MERS could do, they had to have know that Coronaviruses still had the potential to be a major problem.

Well the anti-vax movement has taken up residence in parts of the far right, as suspicions about vaccinations have been around in fundamentalist groups for as long as I've been around. It's all about the FEMA death camps, and mark of the beast microchips (which has now been changed into the mark will be hidden inside 'nano technology' inside of vaccines). Tin foil hat stuff. The strange hatred of Gates has been around a while. It's tiring.

  I don't like Gates at all from his Microsoft days, and I don't think he does anything out of altruism, but the conspiracy stuff is really getting out of control with this.

I know, I remember it well.  I was on the "internet" long before Al Gore knew what it was.  We engineers had many convos about Gates and Jobs and all the BS when they split.
