I believe he has mentioned it a bit ago, but nothing lately.  Still only compassionate use, I would certainly like to see something more.  This whole shut down was effected to help alleviate the stress on the health care industry which makes sense, as the healthcare system needed to determine how to treat this new virus.  However, just like antibody testing, we need solid treatments to allow us to get back to work.

Definitely possible, but then that begs the question, if so many type O's can't get it at all, how do we achieve herd immunity? 

 

Either way I think stats about deaths rather than infections would be more useful, because it kinda gives you an idea about both infections and severity rolled into one.

Maybe it's also just lazy patients who recover at home not bothering to follow up with their doctors, therefore they don't get officially counted?

Good question as to how and whether they'd be counted.  Perhaps if they fail to show up in the obituary pages...

 

I really object to the official policy of counting every death of someone who "has" the virus as "due to" (because of) the virus.  If someone "with" the virus recovers from the heart attack for which he was hospitalized, is he counted as having recovered from the heart attack, or having recovered from the virus?

There are plenty of stats about recoveries. But the discussion about infections and deaths had to do with research showing people with blood type O are less likely to be infected and/or end up with a severe case/die.

Not just lazy patients, though they certainly exist.  I know three people who got it and were not allowed to go to a hospital, they had to recover at home.  One was already recovered (very SEVERE symptoms) when his test results came back 15 days later.  Have two other friends who THINK they had it back in February before it got crazy over here, but of course they can't get tested now.  VERY mild symptoms.  I told them they should check into getting into an antibody volunteer program to find out for sure if they caught it, and if so, why so mild.

  I guess one thing to consider is if a lot of the asymptomatic cases tend to be group O, because that would make type O people more likely to spread it unwittingly.

 

  It's likely that type O people would still have an immune response to the virus. The anti-A is just neutralizing it so it cant enter the respiratory cells, but your immune system would still react to the virus. We should still achieve herd immunity at some point. If not naturally, we'll get it with the vaccine.

  = 52

  = 0.0000127% of total county population

  = 0.015% of diagnoses

 

Recovered patients as of 4/9/20, Harris County & city of Houston

  = 546

 

If my algebra is correct (and please correct it), 9 of 10 diagnosed individuals has recovered.

 

And the entire area is on lockdown because of this?!
