I like how so many people are following the pointless mantra of small government and have just accepted that small government is inherently good. It's like a religion to them.

It's usually quite easy to determine what the libertarian party stands for though there are several types of thinking and we aren't all of the same thought, which is just fine. Parties shouldn't be of a herd mind philosophy. A quick google will give a good overview.

 

There are different extremes to each - some believe in open borders and very little government involvement except for where it belongs. Others believe in a limited government more constitutional originalism approach. They will typically not be open borders but they certainly will offer varying degrees of more liberty and freedom involving immigration. True libertarians are always going to be fiscally conservative but quite socially liberal. States rights are very important but acknowledgement that there is a time and place for government to act.

No. What gave you that idea? All/any ideology has their extreme outliers or persons who head in that direction. But the party as a whole? No.

Hence why I don't even believe in "libertarians". No such thing. There are anarchists, minarchists, and different levels of statists. Pick your poison.

anarchists and minarchists are both libertarian...but anarchists believe in total liberty whereas minarchists believe in small government(night watchman state) that still has military, police, courts. I have some friends who are total anarchists whereas I lean more towards minarchism. I don't like using the term libertarian because it's just way too loose...some people call themselves libertarians but yet while they might believe in free markets etc, they want big government when it comes to social aspects(the state having the right to ban same-sex marriage, the state having the right to execute, etc). Similarly, you have many liberals who consider themselves libertarian but they're more communist than anything lol. So it really doesn't tell you much. At the end of the day, what does a real libertarian strive for? small government. Then why not just go with minarchist. At the end of the day what does a real anarchist strive for? no government. And at the end of the day, what does anyone who doesn't fit either strive for? A bigger government that would control alot of aspects in life. So they can just be called statists. Too many statists think of themselves as libertarians imo.
