@stephanie918 Thanks so much for your reply! I will take a look at virgin flights. I also saw on the US embassy website that United Airlines is flying Sydney to San Francisco daily.

 

@ECCK Hello I spoke to PetTraveller yesterday and they think they may be able to use QATAR Airways. I will let you know when they get back to me. I don't want to put my dogs on a super long haul flight so if I can't find a reasonable option I might wait until QANTAS resumes.

What a coincidence! I just heard back from them too and I've decided to go through them with Qatar Airways. It is a crazy long haul flight, but I need to get to the East Coast so it was going to be tough either way. Hopefully Qantas does resume - I was really disappointed when they said they wouldn't. Unfortunately I cant afford to wait and I have to leave by the end of the month.

I don't know if Fiji airlines is flying?? So with air new zealand, they said it would be ok to transit as long as there is proof nothing will prevent you from entering your destination country. But i would check again with the airline if you want to go with them. 

 

It seems like Qatar is taking pets now - yay! before that, the only option i was given by a pet relocation company was to charter my own flight...

Yeah, they have been the best company to deal

with. Some of the others were really rude and jetpets demanded a 500 non refundable deposit before they would deal with me even though they couldn’t confirm any dates!! I did receive my quote of $2100, flying to Chicago via Doha. It’s actually the cheapest quote I got.

that's not a bad quote! we were going to bring our dog with Jetpets and they quoted 2300 exclusive of some vaccinations and kennel to go from Melb to LA

Yeah, they're pretty competitive and the team is really really nice to work with. I've been acting like a crazy person trying to figure this out and they've been really patient. I think Jetpets is a larger company, but they were really unhelpful when I had questions. Have you been able to secure a spot to LA with jetpets?

I heard a couple of days ago that Jetpets Australia has gone into liquidation. 

 

I am still waiting to receive my updated quote from PetTraveller but I think they originally quoted me $2800 for two dachshunds from Brisbane to LAX - I thought that was quite good

We ended up finding a family who was willing to watch our dog as I couldn't deal with the idea of putting her in the plane for that long as I'm sure she'd be so anxious and it was so stressful to think about.  I'd love to bring her, but I actually think she will be better off with a family friend.  both options break my heart.  I'm glad that you've found a company that are helpful and patient, it's already such a hard time

I know, it's a really hard decision. On top of all this covid stuff. I feel for you and I'm glad you found a family for your dog - I'm sure they will be spoilt. And hopefully you'll be able to keep in touch with them.
