How do I properly fix an error on DS 160 to follow through to the interview.  I know that I can re-enter the visa application and fix the mistake and resubmit, but then what?  How do I handle confirmation pages?  Do I need to contact the Embassy?  Interview is scheduled.  What do I need to do?  Really stressing this.

Relax. This is such an uncomplicated process, that of getting a visa. You're overthinking what is required.

You can reopen your completed DS-160 and correct the error, and your first confirmation page is still valid for the interview. Also, you can just correct the error(s) with the CO at the interview, where many do. Or finally, you could start a new DS-160 and bring only the "NEW" confirmation page to the interview. CO's only have access to the confirmation page you submit at the interview so they wouldn't even know that you made a mistake.

@Greenbaum That first scenario sounds great....but haven't they already "checked" the application?  The error is on the question of having been refused a visa before.  About 10 years ago, beneficiary tried for a tourist visa but was denied.  I filled the bulk of the application and for some reason, didn't think this was important, but it must be because this flashed into my mind.  He doesn't remember dates or anything, other than denied.  Can I still do what you said - just reopen and correct the error or has the Embassy already noticed an unintentional "lie"?

Isn't the confirmation number tied to the MRV payment and scheduled interview?

Depends on your embassy but like I said the CO doesn't give a hoot. They are with you for 5 min tops. If you have gotten this far and you have a clean bill of health and no criminal record with a bonified relationship you are approved. It's getting by USICS is the nail bitter and you have gone beyond that stop over.

I know a thing or two because I have seen a thing or two.
