Hi everybody,

I apologise if there is a topic regarding this already, I wasn't able to find it.

My wife and I submitted the I-130 in May 2019, and we finally got an update 2 weeks ago. However, it does not say if the petition was approved or not, it says "Case was received at my local office".

I would be grateful if someone could tell me what exactly this means. It has been like that since March 16th without further updates or notifications.

Thank you in advance for your time and assistance.

Hi, thank you for answering.

No, I am Croatian, my wife is a US citizen.

At the time of submitting the I-130 we were both living in Croatia so we sent the petition via mail to lockbox which was then transferred to NSC for processing and has been there for almost a year.

In the meantime, my wife moved back to US and I am still here waiting for the approval.

We do not have a USCIS office here but could it be possible that they transferred it to hers in Seattle?  And would that mean that they will just now start the processing?

Thank you again for your time!

I’m assuming you used the Seattle address on the petition? They may have just started to work on your petition.
Check the processing time in your area.

USCIS communicates with the petitioner, not you.  If your wife provided a US mailing address in the Seattle area, then the petition was sent to the local office in Tukwila, Washington.  This happens sometimes.  They also sometimes put the wrong information in the notice.  If I were her, I would call to see what's going on, to see if it was REALLY transferred to a local office and which one.
