While we are all waiting patiently for our biometrics appointment. I have some good news. My husband was able to get his Driver's license in the state of Florida using the AOS receipts. He doesn't have an SSN. We are adjusting from B2 so he had a temporary DL that was valid for the length of his i 94.   What he took with him to the appointment:

His passport

i 94 (expired)

all receipts (485,130.765,131)

proof of residence (bank statement and lease)

our marriage certificate

My USA passport.

My wife was recently able to get hers with this method as well.

@malajoe @brandonyjohawait So glad you managed to get drivers licences!! Does anyone know if this would work in California?? Having been on the website and looked at forums I’m not sure if the info you said you’d taken would work here.... I’ve not had so much luck with govt departments so far being here 😂 having unsuccessfully tried many times to get my SSN!!

we are having this problem too unfortunately, we applied for her ssn in February, her I94 expired in May, and yesterday we got a letter from the SS office stating they are unable to give us a SSN because it's now expired...

@kayden123 I gave up with the social security offices, I tried 3 different ones and all gave different advice, some hopeful, but in the end it was too late as the I-94 expired....I’m just hoping to get it with the AOS I filed late May but hopefully it doesn’t take too long and I can get my wife’s Health Insurance and a California driver’s licence!!

Usually within a month, but due to pandemic there have been no appointments since March. So there is a big backlog. Once ASC’s open on July 13 biometrics will be scheduled.

Where did you see that ASCs are opening on July 13? When I spoke with a USCIS rep last week, she told me there were no updates on when those would reopen so that's great to hear!

I thought service centers reopened June 4th and someone had talked to Uscis and said they wouldn’t start scheduling biometrics until June 22nd, which is today. Is this different?

From my understanding, biometrics are taken at Application Support Centers (ASCs) which are still closed according to this webpage. But hoping they have announced re-openings somewhere else that I've missed!

Yes, during the in person services engagement which was streamed live on Youtube with a Q&A one of the things USCIS brought up was that the ASCs will have a phased. reopenening on July 13 with appointment letters being sent out week commencing 29th July all the way up to 4th July because of independence day. However i believe priority is being given to asylum seekers first if i remember correctly....

What do you mean July 29th all the way up to July 4th?

ooops typo JUNE29th :P

I was hoping so haha. So letters will start going out next week for appointments to resume after the July 13th reopening? I assume up until the 4th doesn’t mean anything because letters will still have to be sent out after that, right?
