I received my card/number in the mail today! Any news for you?

Hi @YvetteS! I’m so happy that everything worked out and that you managed to get your card in the mail. I know you really needed an SSN in order to register for that real estate course you mentioned and to avail of better health insurance. :)

Unfortunately, the state of my husband’s application took an unexpected turn. His I-94 was three weeks away from expiring (it expires this Friday) when he came in for his face-to-face appointment. When he told me that the SSA office had to submit his documents for manual verification, I got worried because I was aware that this process can sometimes last for weeks. True enough, the SSA office where he applied at contacted him today to inform him that they were on the tail end of the verification process but are no longer able to proceed, since the I-94 is expiring at the end of the week.

It sucks because it could have worked out like it did for you if we had just known that you could request in-person appointments a couple of weeks earlier. Oh well. :( We’ve been fortunate in the sense that not having an SSN hasn’t been much of a hindrance for him so far. He has health insurance, was added to my checking and savings accounts, and was added to my apartment lease.

He has been driving with his UK license, and Texas DPS informed him that he can keep using it, since offices issuing drivers licenses are closed anyway. There is an “extension period” in place here in Texas for drivers with expired licenses. My husband apparently falls into this category as well. Even after DPS announces that the extension has been lifted, expired licenses will still be valid for an additional 60 days. As of today, the 60-day period hasn’t begun yet, so hopefully there won’t be too much time between the end of that period and the issuance of his EAD. *fingers crossed*

While we are all waiting patiently for our biometrics appointment. I have some good news. My husband was able to get his Driver's license in the state of Florida using the AOS receipts. He doesn't have an SSN. We are adjusting from B2 so he had a temporary DL that was valid for the length of his i 94.   What he took with him to the appointment:

His passport

i 94 (expired)

all receipts (485,130.765,131)

proof of residence (bank statement and lease)

our marriage certificate

My USA passport.

Texas DPS even told me that I can drive up to a year with my foreign license and an international driving permit. :)

Anyone had biometrics scheduled yet? I heard that although field offices are open, biometrics will not start being taken until 21st June but wondered if anyone had been scheduled for after that yet?

Still waiting to receive my biometrics appointment schedule.

Oh wow, that’s amazing! We may have to look into this option. Do you already have an international permit? Is this something that he can apply for over here or should he have taken care of this before he left the UK?

I don't think he can get it if he's already here but I really don't know for sure.

To be honest I'm not really sure how important the international driving permit really is. I feel like they just mentioned it because I told them I have a valid German license and the international permit. So I'm just carrying it with me just in case...

My case was rejected with a reason "The Payment amount is incorrect or has not been provided". I filed G-1450 and provided my credit card information and $1225 for (I-131, i-765, i-864). As far as I can tell credit card information I provided is correct. What could have gone wrong?

Also, can I reuse the returned form(s) when I resubmit my application or do I need to startover everything?

I’m led to believe and it was also mention by my wife’s insurance agent that the International Driving Permit only comes into play if you need to claim on the insurance for some reason.... I’m not sure the cops really care as long as you can be identified with your licence whether it be foreign or a temporary US one...

The amount seems right. Personally, I provided two checks. One for $1140 for AoS package, and one for $85 for biometrics services fee. I think that would be a safer way to go rather than credit card.

No idea on what you have to resubmit, though I would like to think that you can just use all your original forms, as long as none of them have expired or anything.

If I were you, I’d check with the credit card customer service. The amount is large enough to trigger an alert or something (in case USCIS tried to charge the card) and the decline as the result.

What actually is Form I-944 (Declaration of Self-Sufficiency)? We only filed I 765, I 864 and I 131. Do we still need to file I-944 form? This is K1 AOS.

If you filed after 02/24/2020 you have to. If you didn't included it, your package will most likely get rejected
