Good evening everyone,

We just received our three texts from USCIS. Here is our timeline so far:

  • April 30 - Packet mailed via USPS
  • May 3 - Packet delivered
  • May 6 - Texts received

We filled out the I-485 version with the 2020 expiration date. I checked my checking account and it doesn't look like our check has been cashed yet. The three text messages each had a different case number - one for each application we sent (I-485, I-765, and I-131).

That was quick. Did you file at Chicago Lockbox?

I know, we were pleasantly surprised! Yes, we sent it to the Chicago Lockbox. They also cashed the check this morning.

Any good news for you yet?

Nope - Still waiting-

it is remarkable how big difference there is in the processing time in Chicago Lockbox Facility.

wonder what is the reason.

i would think processing would commence in the approximate order applications are received.. But this seems to not be the case ..

Thats awesome. I got rejected a first time to do the 944 and resend on the 25th so I am just still waiting. Fingers crossed.

Quick update. I originally filed on the 28th of March and got rejected because of an incomplete I 944. I refiled again on the 25th of April, package was delivered on the 27th. I did include the form to get emails and text notification. I decided to call my bank this morning to see of my cashier's check was cashed out and to my surprise it was on May 5th. I then decided to call the USCIS lockbox. They could find my file anything when they used my name, DOB etc. Finally the agent used my SSN number and was able to tell me that my case was accepted and a notice was mailed out to my address on file May 1st.

Really sorry about that! That I-944 is really biting people in the butt. It drove my husband and me insane. We would have been able to send our application weeks earlier if we didn’t have to collect and wait on all of the evidence it required.

I’m sure you will hear back soon! 🙏

Oh hooray! So relieved that it got there safely! I’m sorry you had to jump through hoops to find out, but at least you can breathe easier today!

Hi,

Congrats on getting your NOA from them!! I’m not sure if I’ve missed something from further back in this forum but is there anything you could share as to what was missing or what really needs to be in the I-944 packet to avoid a rejection.  I’m just preparing mine now and waiting on my education equivalencies to come back, it’s cost me $500 so far to get that done.  I agree this form is a nightmare and doubles up on a lot of stuff on the. I-864 regarding financial information... any suggestions or ideas would be gratefully received. Thanks.

I had an incompetent lawyer fill it out the first time. Waste $700. He left a lot of the boxes unchecked. The second time i did it on my own. I made sure i checked all appropriate boxes. Make sure you N/A. Also i was able to get my husband's credit score and report (he's the beneficiary)   I am the USC. For school his college transcript was a headache to get so we just sent a copy of his HS diploma. Make sure all your forms are current. Also I did a 864ez instead of 864 but we are adjusting from B2 status. Hope this helps. Just go over the forms carefully. Make sure to have all signatures and dates.

A little update for you all:

I sent in AOS on the 30th of April and it was delivered to the Chicago lockbox on the 5th of May. This morning the USCIS cashed my check! Hopefully this means that they can finally process my case and that I won’t be rejected like last time (I missed the I-944 form the first time) 😊

Same timeline as you both, delivered 04/22 and just got the checks cleared for both 485 and 130. No texts or email as of now. Don't know what happened to the form for e-notification that we attached.

It’s gonna come I think! I’ve heard that it might take a couple of days before you actually receive the e-notifications :) I’m glad that they cashed your check!!
