Can you please explain what those received texts are about...that means USCIS accepted your forms and won’t send them back due to something missing?

Exactly, that means they will send us NOA of how they will now process the forms. My fingerprint appointment was waived for my 485, so that means we are already a step ahead.

How did you get your fingerprint appointment waived?

Just as you put the assets of yourself and your spouse(who is your petitioner) so you will also put your liabilities and that of your spouse(your petitioner). I believe at the end of the day they will subtract the liabilities from the assets to see the net worth. If the liabilities is just for the applicant, is the assets just for applicant too? Are you adjusting from K1 marriage or are you adjusting on your own?

If you going through the public charge form you will understand that it’s kind of designed for those who have been living and working here in United States. Someone on K1 just got here, do you have a credit score? No, because you don’t have a job. Even if your spouse puts you as authorized user on his or her credit card, it’s going to take you a while to build that. So you see people printing from credit score website that they don’t have one & writing a letter they just got here and to me they’re right.

All I’m saying is every case is different and since the public charge rule is new, we do not know the true picture of what’s really expected of us. You may have a student loan from Australia and someone else doesn’t have. Why are they asking for 250% poverty guideline of your petitioner if their liabilities won’t matter? Why are they asking for the petitioner’s credit score if their liabilities won’t matter? Why are they asking if a petitioner is on public charge benefit & not just you? Because a petitioner’s actions will rub off on the applicant since they got you here.

So then is it okay to put assets of you and your petitioner but when it gets to liabilities you say nothing about theirs?

To my understanding No.

I am adjusting from K1.

You are not required to submit credit score/report of the petitioner. Only applicant.

If a petitioner has debts/liabilities prior to their marriage, their spouse does not inheret their debt. Only debts they accumulate together after marriage is shared. The Form I944 is designed to determine whether the applicant as an individual is at risk of becoming a public charge. They are not interested in the skills/education/credit score/debt of the applicants spouse, because that is not a direct reflection of them as an individual.

The question regarding debts/liabilities clearly asks for applicant only.

The first step in completing and filing a sufficient I944 is to read the questions carefully followed by the instructions that accompany the form.

If you choose to interpret the question in your own way, that's your choice to do so. I'm just saying to be careful to share incorrect information. By telling people that they have to share the debts and liabilities of their USC spouse on their I944 you are creating unnecessary work for them.

Given that this is a new form, there are multiple ways a question can be interpreted but to disregard what a question and it's instructions are specifically asking for is not a good idea.

Hello, just thought I'd update you all.  We received the automated texts from USCIS last night and the funds were taken out from my account this morning.  I expect our NOA1 to come via mail any day now.  Our petition was delivered on April 7, so it took 3.5 weeks before we finally heard anything.

What a relief. Congratulations.

I only checked it online and it said that the fingerprint fee was received. I'm still waiting for my NOA to come in the mail. Hopefully I will be able to say more then

I think that just means that they received the biometrics fee out of your AOS package, not that the actual fingerprints were waived. Everyones says that once USCIS gets the package. Although I would love to be wrong. not having all these biometric appointments is going to cause a big backlog. They really should waive them.

3.5 lbs AOS package mailed to Chicago via 2-day UPS on Wednesday April 22, delivered and signed for on Friday April 24 by Chyba.

I-944 was the thickest part of the packet, followed by proof of bonafide marriage.

Also I submitted a lot of redundant copies with each form of my packet for supporting evidence. Each form is self contained with its own evidence. For example multiple copies of marriage certificate, birth certificates, passport biography pages, I-94's, IRS Tax Return Transcripts, etc.

All forms submitted:

  • G-1145
  • I-485
  • I-130 / I-130A
  • I-864
  • I-944
  • I-765
  • I-131
  • I-695 in sealed envelope

Me and my wife might be moving to a new residence, not sure is this will be an issue this early in the process with USCIS, assuming I do correctly inform them of the change of address.

Received four text messages last night around 12:30 AM EST.

  • I-485 Finger Print Fee Processed
  • I-130 Processing
  • I-765 Processing
  • I-131 Processing

National Benefits Center working on case. I-797's Mailed.

Looked at my bank account, USCIS processed payments for $1225 and $535.

Am I also supposed to receive text messages for forms I-864 and I-944?
