It really is annoying. I was all ready to resubmit this morning when I read the post. We then checked the barcodes on the 2020 and 2021 versions and they are different. So to be safe I re-downloaded the i-485 again and redid all of that.

If someone's application gets rejected based on that its just unacceptable. The USCIS holds so many people's lives and futures in their hands... and to have that feeling of being played around is just... yeah.

So to confirm...did you just change the first page of the I-485 form so that it has the expiration date of 10/31/2020...or have you filled out the whole form again??

@Munachimso said he just replaced the first page of his I-485 form with the exp date of 10/31/2020 and sent it in again

Wow. And that was the only error in your package ?? What did the rejection notice say? My rejection notice only mentioned the I 944 and never the version of the I 485. Gonna look over the rejection notice again

Yes the only error. They said I complete the i485 version and resubmit. So I checked USCIS and noticed the 2021 changed to 2020. I felt awful. So when I came on visa journey today I decided to post it so no one will be a victim.

Yes it was. That was why I posted it here so it won’t happen to anyone else.

Would you mind sharing your rejection notice with us?

If I were in your shoes, I would just re-fill the entire form, especially if people are saying the barcode on the bottom of each page is different from the 2021 to 2020 version.

Just from following this thread, there is at least 4 of us who submitted the 2021 version of the I485 last week. It seems none of us have received any text messages yet. I really think we should all try not to stress too much before we hear back. There's enough stress for us to deal with and it's not good for anyone!

The most we can do right now while we wait is fill out the 2020 version in anticipation of having our packets returned, but I'm really hoping that won't be the case.

When all you have is wishful thinking, it's best to hope for the best and prepare for worst case scenario.

Just like COVID-19, we're all in this together!

I completely agree with this. I hope somehow this wont be a rejection. But as you said there are a few that did file the 2021 form which clearly mean it was downloaded from the official website sometime this month.

I went to meet wifey at work. When I get home I will send it. I also think any April filer that got accepted NOA should let us know which expiry date of i485 they used.

Just PM an April Filer who sent his in April 13th with that 2021 expiration i 485 and said he got NOA1.

Yes, I agree. It would be very much appreciated that if someone received their NOA1 to also share which version of I485 they submitted

We sent our forms in on Saturday April 19th! They arrived on Tuesday 4/21, so SUPER fast.  I have no idea how it works there but it could be that they approved them so fast this time because this was our third attempt at filing so when they got them they were able to more quickly look and see that whatever the problem was (still don't really know!) was corrected and get them processed.

What was the expiration date on your form i 485?
