@Munachimso So was your AOS package actually  sent back to you because you filed the I-485 form with an expiration date of 10/31/2021 instead of 10/31/2020?

Yeah, because the night before we sent them out we downloaded the forms again just to double check if we had the right one and it was the 2021 edition with 10/15/19 on the bottom. Soooooo frustrating!

The one's who got their NOA, which edition did you guys file?

well if they sent it before the 20th they would be good .

the current form on USCIS website is Form I-485 OMB no 1615-0023 expires 10/31/2020   with annotation at bottom of page Edition 10/15/19

I filed the current form from USCIS Form I-485 OMB no 1615-0023 expires 10/31/2021 with annotation at bottom of page Edition 10/15/19

is this a concern?

I dont want to blow a fuse BUT/

With all the issues going on concerning I 944 / COVID 19  courthouse closures USCIS Closures and similar it seems UNFATHOMABLE that a rejection will be given if an applicant used the RIGHT form at time of application / the  *validity is denoted on top of page should not be a disqualifyer / unless the form is expired/ and according to the denotation on the bottom of the page / it is the same FRIGGIN form Edition 10/15/19.

this is absolutely insanity if this is the case.

I have checked the USCIS list for form updates

Feb. 24, 2020

Update to Supplement A to Form I-485, Adjustment of Status Under Section 245(i). New Edition Dated 10/15/19.
Edition Date: 10/15/19. Effective Feb. 24, prior editions will be rejected.

Aug. 13, 2019 Update to I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status; New Edition Dated 07/15/19.
07/15/19. We will also accept the 12/13/17 edition.
Jan. 3, 2018 Update to Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, New Edition Date 12/13/17.
To apply for lawful permanent resident status if you are in the United States.

Anyone with any insight please comment.

@Viking I am right there with you! The first time I saw that I was so confused as to what changed wihtout any official notification from USCIS. I am hoping this would not be a problem.

I did see this, which is why I'm hoping it didn't change till end of last week/beginning of this week! Also, off topic but where in Australia are you (or your spouse) from!?

@AlanaM As far as I know there is no revision history on the USCIS website saying that something changed. So if anything the people who got caught in the middle of this drama is on there head and they should just accept it. atleast I hope they will.

Im glad you caught it . I resent everything on Saturday. We were focused on making the corrections on the i 944.

@malajoe I had a chance but the package was so well packed that I didnt have the heart to open everything up and redo all. Lol call me lazy or defiant but I really think it will be fine as long as the edition is right.

Apparently the 2021 was there till the end of last week. It changed to the 10/31/2020 after.

@ShayrineC Do you have a USCIS notification of doing that on the website or is it more like a ball park idea of when it changed?

Just a ball park idea based on the posts we have been seeing around here. Although I have no idea what went wrong with my first filing and I had a 2021 form. I refiled today with the 2020 one.

When I first discovered it on this Monday the reason I didnt change it on my packet was, because on the USCIS website for the form I-485 they only mention the edition date meaning the important date of the two and no mention of the expiring date at all.

I would like to think USCIS is competent enough not to reject people's applications because of their own internal, unknown-to-the-public rule that the expiry date matters too.

It really is annoying. I was all ready to resubmit this morning when I read the post. We then checked the barcodes on the 2020 and 2021 versions and they are different. So to be safe I re-downloaded the i-485 again and redid all of that.

If someone's application gets rejected based on that its just unacceptable. The USCIS holds so many people's lives and futures in their hands... and to have that feeling of being played around is just... yeah.

couldnt express it better than you...

Submitted April 6th and I only got it back April 22nd. Rejection date was dated April 18th. I filed back same 22nd

Wow. And that was the only error in your package ?? What did the rejection notice say? My rejection notice only mentioned the I 944 and never the version of the I 485. Gonna look over the rejection notice again
