Update to all still stuck - My case is finally approved and card is being produced(10 year GC). Had my interview on 9th and very basic questions and the officer was very chill. Although my case was stuck like you all for the longest time on fingerprints were taken since Aug 2020. The only thing that worked is contacting through congressman twice. First time in March of this year and then second follow up in Nov. Few days after the second response(generic kind) the ball started to move. Hope you all get it through and let me know if you have any questions.

Congrats to you and everyone who has seen some movement! Question, did you follow up with the same congressperson or a different one? When we contracted my rep this summer they originally said they couldn't do anything since case wasn't outside of processing times. They did end up sending the message but got that response from USCIS and I'm concerned they won't send something again since it's still not technically out of processing times. They also took a few weeks to reply so I was thinking of going to one of my senators instead.

For anyone in California, who have you reached out to to expedite your case (both ead renewal and GC)?

Im likely going to have to follow up on the status of both, with my current ead expiring soon and my GC application almost at 2 years.

thanks!

Hi,

I just got my Combo card renewal card approved today based on an I-131 expedite request. I filed the expedite request November 9 based on humanitarian reasons (my father is in bad health and recently had a heart attack which he fortunately survived). I did not hear back from USCIS for the longest time, even though I called them multiple times. After 30-days of waiting, I requested to talk to a Level 2 officer. I had to wait a week for the Level 2 officer to call me, but when he did, I also received an email from USCIS asking for supporting documents justifying my expedite request. That was on December 15. On December 17, I sent in 12 pages including a letter explaining the situation and timeline, a letter from his doctor, and multiple hospital appointment notices with English translation (I translated the letters myself). Today, my status got updated to "card being produced". A copy of the approval letter that they will send me (which I accessed through MyUSCIS.gov) confirms that they will send me a combo card.

Very happy as I now soon can go to Norway and visit my dad and family. Also happy they will provide a combo card as my 180-day EAD extension expires March 2. Putting pressure on them seems to have had an effect. I did not contact congressmen, senators, etc., but mayye if I did, I would have received the approval faster. Now, I just hope that I will receive the physical card within a week or two!

Interestingly, my I-485 case got "updated" to "Case is Ready to Be Scheduled for An Interview". That has been the status of my I-485 application since August 2020, so I am unsure what this refreshed status update means. Are they likely to schedule my interview soon? I am in Sacramento, California.

Happy Holidays everyone and hope you all see some progress on your cases (and especially EAD renewal requests) soon!

Anyone in Seattle having an issue with the Senator Petty Murray’s office?

My EAD expired last month and the automatic extension is only until April 2022. My renewal EAD’s processing time is 9-12 months. That means I will get my EAD renewed by the end of next year. So I will lose my job if I don’t get some help. This falls under the expedite criteria. My grandmother was also hospitalized multiple times and I am not able to visit her. The senator petty Murray’s office refused to help me.

I’ve seen so many posts on VisaJourney that they’ve been getting help from the local senate and congresswoman/man but I’m not able to get some help from them at all. In fact, they ignored my emails multiple times for many months.

I can file an expedite request on my own. That is not an issue. However, it seems that talking to USCIS via local congressman/women or senator is more effective in terms of dealing with expediting AOS

I also asked them to just contact USCIS on be half of me to get some updates on my application and they said they cannot help me with that either.

I filed my AOS application in March 2020 and completed the biometrics appointment in November 2020. I haven’t heard anything yet from USCIS and I am very concern about losing my job if I do not get my GC or EAD before March 2022.

Is there another way to escalate this issue?

I think you should file an expedite request for I-131 based on the humanitarian criteria based on your grandmother's health condition. Stress why your grandmother is important to you, and why you would like to visit her as soon as possible (why is it urgent).

I believe that all other ways of escalating the case should be addition to the standard USCIS way. It seems like you have a legitimate reason to travel so use that justification. Call USCIS today, and start the expedite process today (you only  need to speak to a Level 1 person). It took me 1.5 month to get my expedite request approved, but sometimes moves significantly faster. Just try.

If you get your I-131 approved, you will most like receive a combo card.

So I had my AOS Interview yesterday and to be honest I'm not sure how it went... We got in and the officer only asked for ID, a certified copy of the marriage license, and nothing else. I voluntarily handed over a new i-864 and supporting evidence and he accepted it.

Got asked questions on how we met, how the husband proposed, plans for the future, yes/no from the i-485 form. And that's about it.

He mentioned repeatedly that he should have everything he needed, and that we should be approved. Otherwise if he needed anything it'd be an RFE

It's only after we got out of the building that we realized that never asked for evidence of joint living (leases, bank statements, photos). I think I blanked out when I should have handed over the pile of evidence?

It's day 2 after the interview and still no update online on the status, and I'm just crushed. I had hoped to tell my family that I can return home after 2 years away but seems this needs another period of waiting now.

Does anyone know or have any insight on how long it usually takes for interviews to be processed and approved? Just feeling so lost now and maybe looking for some comfort and reassurance lol.

Every decision has to go through a supervisor after the interview. That can delay things.

Also sometimes the file is not with the IO at the moment of the interview, so they have to wait for it.

So give them some time and try not to worry.

I would suggest searching by field/local office to get an idea of timeline. It seems to vary a lot depending on location.

Case Ready to be sched for interview.

FINALLY - some action on my case - since August 2020 when Fingerprints was appended to the case - noting have happened. - numerous weeks spent on the phone with USCIS - making Expedite requests and trying the House of Representatives route - nothing seemed to work.

I am extremely ecstatic but also concerned about the timeline from here.

I was advised it may take 30 days before a Interview Schedule letter is sent what was your recent experience - and how fat out in the future was the interview date.

Los Angeles County is our local office.

hope to get the Interview date just on or after  our wedding day around mid March - so we omit lifting restrictions on the GC due to fulfilling the 2 year requirement.

on another note my EAD document is expired and the 180 day extension is expiring 10th of March 2022.

I don’t want to break the law by working Illegally- I have my own company. I want to follow all requirements in order not to jeopardize the future possibility to seek American Citizenship down the road ahead.

what are you guys and gals thoughts on all this. ?

I wouldn't worry about breaking the law as you are not. USCIS is clear in that they will 'forgive' unauthorized employment as 'bars' do not apply to immediate relatives. See here:

😀 interview scheduled 😀

called USCIS- they advised me of interview date mid March -

2 days before our 2 Year Marriage date  😳

- would love NOT to have to go through the removal of conditions after our last two years experience with USCIS - trust everyone here will agree with that.

will it be wise to ask the Immigration Officer to hold off 2 days before approval???

anyone been through a similar situation????
