We called USCIS again yesterday as we've filed two "case outside of normal processing times" requests since June and neither have been assigned to an officer. They put us in the queue for a Tier 2 call back. We also reached out to our congress person who said they will file an inquiry. Here's hoping we can get some movement, or at least some insight into what's going on!

Luckily my husband's drivers license is still valid but his work permit is expiring this week. We sent the receipt letter to his work and they didn't think that "counted." I sent them a link to the website explaining that it's valid for 6 additional months and hopefully we won't have any issues but it's still a pain and I know my husband is very worried about what happens if we get to the end of the extension and there's still been no movement on the case.

Hopefully things will move on soon.

have you checked the normal processing time for your application. ?

https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/

I filed for AOS in April 2020 - for Los Angeles county normal processing time currently is up to 22 months.

this changes month by month - you can check receipt date -

for me the date have changed from January 2020 back to June 30, 2019 😳🙄🤔😱😡🤬

this is the date of receipt notice after which you can submit a outside processing time notification-

I have done the same - but was advised the case is still inside of normal processing time - despite of expedite requests - and congressmen office involvement..

last update was the biometric details updated 13 months back.

please do yourself a favor and check E-verify for your husbands Employment authorization detail.any employer can check the status online.

As you are aware. you automatically have 180 days extension. Hopefully your husbands employer will accept the documentation you guys provided.

We just got back from the DMV in Fort Worth, TX. My husband had a pretty frustrating exchange with the employee who was taking care of him and his supervisor.

As expected, the DMV personnel were not familiar with immigration law. My husband had to explain over and over again that his extension letter is proof from USCIS that his work permit will remain valid beyond its expiration date. He showed them the documents we printed out from the USCIS website that explained the nature of the extension in length, but they wouldn’t budge because all they were seeing in their system was that his work permit was about to expire. They said they couldn’t issue a new license based on that information.

Thankfully, while I was doing some more research last night, I stumbled upon a post from a lady in Houston who had a similar situation back in 2018 (work permit about to expire, applied for renewal but card hadn’t arrived yet, only had the extension letter as proof of status) and she said that she was issued a license after the DMV ran a “second verification” on her.

It’s a good thing my husband remembered to ask them to do this, otherwise they would have just turned him away! So now, we’re just waiting for that check to complete. We’re supposed to receive a letter in the mail informing us if he is eligible (even though we already know he is… sigh). Once we have that on-hand, he can return to the DMV and they’ll be able to issue his new license.

I just got back from DMV and had to explain the same situation as EAD expired and my H1B also expires today. Have the I-797C for the H1B and employment letter from work explaining that they have applied for renewal and haven't heard back yet. Luckily the person gave me the license print copy for 2 months and the original license should hopefully come in mail in couple of weeks. This all could be valid form only 6 months.  In the mean time got my EAD renewal Bio notice in mail with appointment for Oct 04. Didnt realize you need to do it again.

Congratulations on the DL extension-

the Requirements to re- apply for EAD and AP and duplicate biometrics is not reducing workload on an already overworked and under funded USCIS -  hope it all works out for us all.

eventually….

Hello everyone!

I'm so glad to see so many people getting their GCs here! Congratulations to you all, and continued well wishes to all my fellow April 2020 AOS filers who are still on their journey like me! 🤗

I finally received notice that I'm scheduled for my GC interview on October 12th and I had a question about the I-693 (Medical Examination).

I completed my medical exam in Canada in July 2019, and filed for AOS April 2020. From my understanding, despite there being a 2 year validity period of the medical exam, so long as you apply for the AOS within 1 year of the medical being performed, it is still valid and I do not need to complete a new I-693. Is this correct?

I just want to get all my ducks in a row and make sure I don't screw this up since it's been such a long, grueling process (as you all already know! 😅)

My civil surgeon who performed my medical back in Canada gave me a copy of my DS-3025 (Vaccination Documentation Worksheet) and some CDs. Should I bring these along with me for my interview?

Thank you advance!

Got a frustrating update from Texas DPS… We received a letter date 09/16/21 (the day after my husband went to the DMV) saying that DHS could not verify his lawful presence based on the documents provided. I’m at a loss because I know of several people who were facing the same circumstances, but were able to successfully complete this second verification. My husband said the DMV personnel took and scanned both his I797C for his EAD renewal and the I797C for his I485 application.

The letter stated that DPS has now forwarded the documents to USCIS for further verification and that they could take up to 20 business days to respond AFTER receiving the information. Has anyone encountered a similar outcome?

Anyone had their interview here in Sacramento, California? My PD is April 2020 AOS :)

I am in Los Angeles same PD as you

no update since my Biometric appointment August 2020 - despite multiple Expedite requests service updates and congressional representative office involvement.

fingers crossed that the USCIS efforts to improve their processing time will begin to show soon.

Just went onto the USCIS website and tried to speak to a live agent through Emma about my cases (AOS + EAD renewal). I have been doing this regularly about every 2 weeks but as usual, no luck at all.

Not sure if I am not asking the right questions, or if its all dependent on how helpful the agent is. But most of the live agents who attended to my chat are pretty devoid of compassion when I tell them that I have been waiting for >15 months for my application to be completed - they simply give generic template answers about how its all "within normal processing times" and to create an online USCIS account. Normal processing times can be up to 28 months in my field office.

Does anyone have any tips on how we can contact them for an update?

Hi guys!

I have my interview on Thursday (San Francisco office), do you know if they check flu shots?

I took mine in February 2020 before filing but do I need to update it know since it's flu season, I guess.

Congratulations, stasypu! That's exciting! I'll be heading to mine next Tuesday in the SF office, as well 🤗

That's a good questions in regards to flu shots, but I didn't see that specified on the letter so I'm hoping not since I haven't had mine this season yet either. lol

Good luck on your interview!

Hey! Good luck to you too!!

Same here (I got a shot before filing the documents in April 2020). But I decided not to do it now (don't want to have side effects and not be able even to enter the building with a fever of something).
