Yeah, he’s going to try that later this month. Is it worth him getting his physical sooner rather than later?

I wouldn’t get my physical until you have your interview date... it has to be submitted to USCIS within 60 days of the doctor signing it or it expires and needs to be done again

Not quite true. The medical cannot be done more than 60 days of doctor signing it before you send your application. So it has to be done within 60 days before initial application and anytime during the adjudication process. Just ensure its completed and present before the interview.

"The Form I-693 that the applicant submitted is signed by a civil surgeon no more than 60 days before the date the applicant filed an application for the underlying immigration benefit; [22] "

Yup we also had about 4 weeks notice. I would find the time now figuring out where you want to get the medical and getting your past vaccination records in order etc. I used https://www.easyime.com/uscis-immigration-doctors-zipcode-20009 to book mine.

Thank your for that link, it's very helpful!

Sure thing. I'd also advise you to get all your vaccinations done elsewhere other than the Civil Surgeon (i.e. CVS does TdaP) and then just show the records at the civil surgeon. You may also need to get bloodwork done etc. too.

Nope. It's valid for 2 years from the date it's signed because it would be signed after I-485 was filed: https://www.uscis.gov/policy-manual/volume-8-part-b-chapter-4

Form I-693 Submitted to USCIS On or After November 1, 2018

When did civil surgeon sign?

I-693 retains evidentiary value through

No more than 60 days before applicant filed underlying benefit application with USCIS

2 years from date civil surgeon signed I-693

After applicant filed benefit application with USCIS

2 years from date civil surgeon signed I-693

More than 60 days before applicant filed benefit application with USCIS

N/A – I-693 not valid at time applicant submits I-693 to USCIS

Hi All,

Anyone in this group who is still waiting for I-485 interview and especially whose Bio happened in Aug 2020? Just want to see if I am the only unlucky one stuck in this situation.

You’re not alone. My husband had his biometrics taken in early August. He received his EAD two weeks later. But he still hasn’t received his interview and his status has been stuck at “Biometrics Scheduled” since July 28th. He’s feeling super discouraged.

But, on a plus note for us, our 2yr anniversary is in 3 weeks, so it looks like he will be getting the 10yr GC. Just trying to find that tiny silver lining in what has been a really tough wait. We actually started applying for the CR1 the week after we got married. But then he flew down February 2020 for was supposed to be a 5 month visit while he waited for his interview in Montreal (Canada had a huge backlog prior to COVID and it was already taking a long time). Then they closed the borders and we decided to switch to AOS since we met the criteria. It was hard changing the visa route since we already waited almost a year and spent so much money.

We don’t regret it as we’ve gotten to be together during the lockdowns and border closures. But he also didn’t expect the AOS to take this long and that he’d be without all of his things for over a year. We are going to celebrate big when he finally gets that GC!

Thank you for the reply. I can totally understand how is feeling as I feel the same way too. Especially when I see other peoples timeline for the same exact thing as mine. Good for them but for sure I feel really bad for myself. Also the 10yr GC is exactly what me and my wife talk about to cheer each other up. You should definitely celebrate considering you guys unique situation.

Same boat! Husband got his biometrics done on Aug. 25 last year and received his EAD/AP card on Oct. 1. I-485 has been stuck on “Case Was Updated To Show Fingerprints Were Taken.”

He’s thankfully been working full time, got his SSN and driver’s license... but like you, we just want the interview to be over and done with. We’re located in Dallas, and last time I checked here, no one in the DFW area had received interview notices. Not sure if those folks who responded or anyone else in the area have had any progress with their cases recently!

We just got a status update yesterday saying we are scheduled for an interview. Almost exactly one year from our NOA date!

We had our bio in Aug 2020 as well, and a second one in October. Heres hoping you get scheduled for an interview soon!

Same here! We've been stuck on "fingerprints taken" since August. Really hoping that it was just an oversight on updating the case status and that we are indeed in line at the local office but who knows. We just applied for AP/EAD renewal just in case.
