Update: got the interview notice today. It was scheduled for April 19. New York office. Will let you know how it goes :)

Question: did you guys take your marriage certificate to the interview or did you issue a certified copy of it? The notice mentions a certified copy but I want to hear about other people’s experience given that issuing a certified copy could take up to 6 weeks. Thanks!

Our status updated later that day to "New Card Being Processed." As of today it now says "Case Approved" (I believe this is the normal progression of things, but someone correct me if I'm wrong.)

That is normal:

It is a very common glitch. I assume the programmers switched those 2 statuses.

In our case, the marriage certificate in our possession was a certified copy. Like birth certificates, you don't actually get to hold on to the original. It's a certified copy.

That being said, we were able to go get another certified copy at the court house where we turned in our marriage license very quickly, so we only looked into that to an extent

I have filed even earlier than April 29th but still didn't even get interview scheduled :(. Kansas City area too. Is your case started with MSC?

That really sucks. Yeah, ours was also an MSC number

I took both, a certified copy and my marriage certificate. In the end they didn't ask me for either. I believe the reason she didn't ask was that I had already submitted it with my AOS package. If you can't get a certified copy in time I would take the marriage certificate along and take a photocopy of it to bring along too.

For me to get a certified copy was very easy, I just went to the court where my marriage certificate was filed and she issued me a certified copy on the spot for $30. Process in NY must be very different. Good luck.

Yeah, we have an IOE receipt number and we’ve just been stuck forever.

Thanks for your responses! Yeah, in New York we have to request it via mail and it can take 4-6 weeks (maybe more who knows) to get the certified copy. Idk if this has always been the case but definitely with the pandemic, it is and the County Clerk has been closed for almost a year now so we can't go in person. We requested the certified copy a couple weeks ago for a different reason but we might get lucky and get it before the interview. Thanks so much for sharing your experience!

Submit a case enquiry FORGET the outside of processing one go straight for “letter not received” or “card not received in mail” got my case moving along fast.. 10 months heard nothing then within a 1 months of pushing the other two my EAD is getting printed and my interview is scheduled. Worth a try at least.

I agree, we inquired about ours with missing mail and got our appointments one after another with each inquiry. You should try it!!

Had our interview this past Friday. Everything seemed to go good except the woman said she needs to obtain or original i129F packet before making her final decision. Something that it was at another branch and she needed to request it to be sent back to uscis ? How do you not have that in your possession for a AOS green card interview. Seemed odd but hopefully no big deal.

Hi! Wanted to update we had our greencard interview in Chicago on Tuesday 3/16! Super smooth and easy! She told us we were approved on the spot and give her 20 minutes to update the computer. By the time we got home it had updated online. Yay!
