How do we know if we will need to re-do our medical? I am adjusting from K1. My medical was done in Australia in December 2019. If my interview for AOS is scheduled more than 12 months since my medical, does that mean a new medical is required?

Help?

P.s. I do not have my interview scheduled yet, just thinking ahead as I live in a small town and will probably have to drive several hours to get that specific medical done.

Thanks!

Husband’s I-765 updated yesterday to show “New Card Is Being Produced.” :)

I-485 still says “Updated to Show Fingerprints Were Taken,” and I-131 has been stuck at “Case Received,” I suppose since his biometrics appointment was for I-765/I-485. I’m hoping that he still gets the combo card in the mail like most people, since he applied for the EAD and AP concurrently.

Filing date - May 4

NOA1 - May 6

Biometrics for I-765/I-485 - Aug. 24

I am not sure about the answer . But, our read somewhere that our medical is valid for 2 years. My timeline matches with you

I told you so😀👍

My husband also needs to redo his medical. What is worse, all our originals including approved I-130, birth certificates and his immunization record, all those are in the US Embassy in Paris and there is no way we can get them before AOS interview😩

And another change to i765: Case was approved.

Yay! Now we just wait for the EAD card and AOS interview letter. We never did an AP application because we didn’t think it would be necessary. It wasn’t. So we’re good.

I want to believe that the next stage would be Case was approved for his I-765 and which will automatically make an impact on his I-131 too.

Congrats in Addy.

To those who got or about to get their EAD/combo cards but do not get SSN:

Call 1-800-772-1213 , check if the immigrant is in their system (chances are they are not), and make an appointment to come to your local SSA office to apply for a SS card. From what people say, it takes 2-6 weeks to get the SS card now.

We were told we can’t make an appointment. They want my husband to mail in his passport, EAD card, and birth certificate. Then they will hold it for 3 days because of COVID. After that they will send it back to USCIS so they can confirm it’s accurate. Then USCIS will send it back to SSA and approve them issuing an SSN. It’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve heard yet in this process. I do not feel comfortable with my husband sending off every important document me has in the mail! Like, he’ll have no proof that he’s allowed to be here.

Ridiculous, I agree. It’s possible to send by registered mail to track the documents.

On the other hand, if your husband has an ITIN, he can work and be paid . Though most employers prefer a SSN.

I just called my local SSA office and they said once I receive the actual card I should call back and make the appointment. I then asked if it would be in person or if I had to mail it in, he said it will be in person. You might want to call another office to get an appointment.
