I am receiving a letter from USCIS today. It was sent a day after I did my biometrics. Do they send a mail saying that the biometrics were taken? Is it a thing? My case moved to Case Was Updated To Show Fingerprints Were Taken on the same day they sent the letter.

interested to find out what its about, i never received a letter to say biometrics was taken.. perhaps its a second biometrics letter or an approval letter?

good luck!

Have you filled the I-765 and I-131 applications at the same time?

No, the strange thing is we filed the 765 a month LATER than the 131. He received his EAD but no movement on the AP.

We got an NOA1 for the EAD about a week after his biometrics.

I received my EAD/AP combo card two days ago (August 29). I opted to be issued a SSN card on my 765 form.

I've been calling SSA basically everyday since them to check if my name shows up on the system. Nothing has showed up for now.

I'll keep making calls, if I see that it doesn't show up for the next two weeks, I'll send my EAD/AP + passport to my local office to be issued a SSN card.

My worst suggestion is confirmed (sigh), thanks for sharing! At the time of pandemic issuing SS cards is stalled, so it’s up to applicants to push it through.

In NYC the local offices are close. I'll have to mail my documents (original).

I'm quite skeptical. I don't want to even think about the possibility of have them lost.

Hi everyone,

so my biometrics got canceled last week due to the hurricane but my expedite request got approved yesterday (I requested expedite on 07/23) and I got approval on my EAD and AP today.

can we still use the i-767 NOA of approval to work?

i don’t know if they will issue the actual card without biometrics- I am still waiting for them to reschedule it.

Is anyone located in Columbus, Ohio? My husband still hasn’t gotten scheduled for biometrics. We got our NOA on April 20 but nothing yet. I know the offices were closed but they’ve been opened for over a month. I actually decided to go there and they were really nice and said they’re never full. There’s no line. Not that many people. So I’m starting to think we’ve been forgotten.

So the letter was the most useless letter I ever received from USCIS.. They are saying that they are reusing a previously captured fingerprints. It's funny because they sent that the day after I did my biometrics appointment.

Hi Everyone,

I have been lurking here for some time and wanted to share an update.

I had applied on April 22nd and had got my NOA on May 23rd.

My I485 status was just updated to say " Case Was Updated To Show Fingerprints Were Taken". I have not been to a biometric appointment yet.

I am currently an F1 student if that helps. Any thoughts what might be going on here.

Located in Dallas Texas

Edit : EAD, I131 and i130 still show " Case was received "

were you able to expedite without completing the biometrics appointment? when I called USCIS to file an expedite request, they said I am not even allowed to submit one because i haven't finished my biometrics.

also, do you mind sharing what reasons you gave to them, if possible?

they also said a pending job offer is not a valid reason.

I initially submitted an expedite request a month ago and I want to try it again as my job offer might expire but they aren't being helpful...

Looks like you got lucky as they have applied your previously taken fingerprints (for F-1?). One skipped step less in the process👍

Congratulations on your expedite approval!💐

As to your I-767 NOA, you certainly can try to use it in place of EAD and see what happens. Some employers may not accept that and would rather prefer a real “plastic” instead of paper.

Just know that it's illegal for an employer to make such request. They must accept what's on the I-9. They can't choose what you need to show them and that's pretty clear on the I-9 itself.

I did it in July to change my name on the card. It took them a month to send my EAD back and I still didn't receive a confirmation/denial letter stating if they're issuing the SSN or not.
