I would much rather be in your situation than mine Adeline! :)

Anyway. I am hoping flights open sooner. Australia is starting to say that they won't open international borders until 2021 and I find that just upsetting. Would love to be considered essential travel.. But I am still waiting for my interview anyway.

I am sooo hard to believe in that 2021 not bordee opening!

01/14/2020 - filed N400 Miami FL

01/18/2020 - NOA Biometric scheduled

02/05/2020 - Biometrics done

03/13/2020 - Interview scheduled - canceled due Covid19

08/19/2020 - Interview

08/27/2020 - OATH Ceremony MIAMI FL

I don't really understand what you are saying.
But Australia really curbed the number of cases when it closes its borders as only 10% were from person to person transmission and the rest were from people coming back or arriving in Australia. So with such good results it makes sense they want them closed for as long as possible. However, nothing is set in stone.

Just understanding Duterte, he will not let this thing reignite.   If they can't control the incoming passengers into quarantine, guess what, they won't allow them in.

Also, airlines cannot restart on a moments notice.  100% of PAL flying stock and 85% of the worldwide flying stock is grounded and will take a monumental effort to get them operationally ready again.   I suspect domestic restart will be first, then after some time, international.

PAL is currently conducting sweeper flights for Filipino nationals,  No mention of quarantine, they are however requiring a Philippine Health Certificate for domestic sweeper flights, not sure what the requirements are for the 3 international flights below.

Toronto to Manila April 14th (Today)

Vancouver to Manila April 14th (Today)

Melbourne to Manila April 19th

Well, this would be a strong indication that international flights may not reopen in two weeks.  Why would you do a repatriation flight for two weeks.

YMMV

On the contrary, PAL Flights to and from Melbourne will remain suspended during May, among many other cities such as New York,  I couldn't find a list of cities in Canada, it wouldn't surprise me if Toronto and Vancouver are suspended as well since both have an uptick in Covid cases.

The first trials of a pre-check blood test have begun in Dubai with Emirates flights.  They can determine in 15 minutes if you have the virus or not.  China has also approved a  more reliable 45 minute test anyone can take and has performed 15 minute tests in trials, and are already requiring Chinese nationals to test for Covid-19 before boarding.  China also tracks these passengers whereabouts, so they can get data whether the testing is working, so they can adopt it for foreign nationals as well.

If these fast test results can accurately determine if someone has traces of the virus,  I would bet all major international airports adopting a program coordinated with government to test 48 hours before boarding.   Of course in Europe and the US, test kits are still hard to come by, but that is quickly changing as manufacturing test kits has become more reliable. This type of testing would be the sure method to get some jets moving again and open up borders, at the inconvenience of perhaps an extra hour in the airport getting a blood sample taken and processed.  Everyone should prepare for the new normal of needing a doctor's exam before flying internationally in the future.

No 1st world country can afford to keep their borders deadbolted until Fall, so I foresee many requirements popping up like in the UAE, China or South Korea have already adopted.
