Credit card Payment via lockbox for I 129F?

On the credit card payment form, the G1450, it says "Do not submit this form to a USCIS field office. They will not accept it." And I wanted to know what address is the "field address" and what address is the lockbox (the location that they *will* accept the g1450 credit card payment form). From looking online there are two addresses that it could be sent to: the Dallas, Texas address, and the Lewisville, Texas address. (Note: I'm in the US filing for my fiancee in Kenya).

The lockbox will accept the G-1450.

All I-129Fs are sent to the Texas lockbox. See "Where to File". The address to use depends on your shipping courier.

There are two addresses for the lockbox,  one is a po box in Dallas for the USPS and the other is the physical address ( Lewisville for FedEx and UPS).

YMMV

I sent mine and it they said it failed.  There was no reason why it would have failed so I had to reapply.  I suggest you DO NOT use a credit card.

So if I sent this to the Lewisville location I should be fine? What do they mean by the "field address"?

Field office

USCIS has several types of locations: Lockboxes, service centers, field offices, ASCs, etc.

The G-1450 cannot be processed at a field office.

Do you know if this happens a lot though? I can actually pay cash for the application but it'll just be slightly inconvenient, but have you heard cases of other people having the same problem you had? Because now that you said that, now I'm having second thoughts on using a credit card haha

Since the payment is not card swiped or chipped, sometimes the CC company rejects as fraudulent.   To avoid this, call your CC company ahead of time

YMMV

Many people (including us) had no problems paying USCIS lockbox fees by credit card (for both the petition and AOS), and in fact I recommend doing so if it's practical for you because

  • There's no possibility of rejection due to incorrect payment or incorrect payee
  • They're very easy to track
  • There's much more protection against fraud on a credit card (note: not a debit card)
  • It doesn't cost you anything extra to use one (unlike money orders, or in most cases, a cashier's check)
