It was touched on briefly, but Washington seems to be an outlier.  Governor Insley did not put a SIP order in place until quite late although they did recommend physical distancing.  Washington has steadily been dropping in the active cases numbers.

This matter is where I'd honestly say the states and local leaders have, in bipartisan fashion, demonstrated their collective uselessness.

That's why so many governors and mayors are busy doing damage control and trying to misdirect away from their own incompetence.

Well, while the democrats have nothing of significance to add to what we are doing to slow the spread of the virus, at least they have established a commission to investigate how the stimulus money is being utilized.

I wonder if there might be ONE person in particular they are targeting???

Some county & local leaders seem to want to outdo themselves, or at least to "follow the leader," in issuing orders.

City of Laredo, TX has ordered all people to wear masks in public.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I don't agree with forcing people to wear masks. Some countries already do that, yet they don't provide the masks. So you're left with the choice of either making them on your own at home(assumnig you can't buy any), or staying home. If you don't wear a mask properly it actually increases, not decreases your risk, so that's not the right move imo. It is much more important to just keep your distance from other people.

As I said in one of these threads:  barring random good fortune, it might take weeks or months before regular people can get their hands on decent masks.

The worst thing I see people do sometimes is grab the front of the mask and lift it off. They contaminate their hands and spread whatever was on the mask onto their face.

No room for rationality, you either play up your sympathy image with excessively ridiculous mask orders, or call people racist if they don't engage in behaviors that spread the virus. Either way, all about PR excess.

I bought some for my wife on amazon a couple of weeks ago, because she has multiple pre existing conditions. She's also been home for the last 3 weeks, but just in case she does leave. I still go out every day, and I don't wear one, but I'm constantly sanitizing, making sure not to touch my face, staying away from other people, etc.

Yup. There are similar issues with using gloves too

The worst thing I see elderly people do is engage in general behaviors that help facilitate the spread of pathogens. I had to have a supermarket manager talk to a few of them who were wiping their noses, without gloves, and touching everything on their carts, on the belt, etc. They promptly sanitized the cart and checkout aisle.

Might be a better investment to teach the most vulnerable how to better protect themselves (including the proper usage of masks) rather than just shutting an economy down instead and making people stay at home for them.

I think the fact that you are so giddy about people dying just to make try to make your president look bad says more about you than him.

If we all lick toilet seats in protest, spit everywhere, etc. the virus will spread more and Trump will lose in November! Take that Drumpf and his optimism! If you're not on #TeamVirus you're against America.
