I am sorry about that but this answer you got from Tier 2 agent is just bulls***. How he does not know. This is why I hate about this process. Whoever we talked they act like they heard the issue as first time. They know what is going on but they are not taking any action. I am really sick of this.

Officer II i spoke to states that cases from March- May 2020 are stuck in the National Benefit Center for which he got a ticket open and addressed to them. Meanwhile 572 days letter I wait due to sheer incompetence .

Does anybody know how much time it takes to get an interview from the moment the Ombudsman gets involved?

That's a question with a lot of trust in ombudsman power :)

Will share my experience as soon as I hear back from ombudsman. But I suspect it will be more like "we contacted uscis, your case is with NBC due to covid"

So, I just received the below email from the Office of the Ombudsman. Sadly, this is just as generic as any response I have received from USCIS up until now. I really expected more from the Ombudsman. I have lost hope that this will ever be resolved and I am so over it.

Dear Sir or Madam,

Thank you for your request for case assistance.  In response to our inquiry, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) indicated that your case is under active review.  However, USCIS  was unable to provide a specific timeframe for resolution of the case.  Our office will continue to monitor USCIS’ progress on a regular basis until there is a specific action or resolution.  We will notify you  when we receive an update from USCIS.

Please be advised that USCIS is the responsible party for moving cases forward, and the CIS Ombudsman’s Office has no role in the adjudication process.

***CHANGE OF ADDRESS***
Please note that if a petitioner or applicant changes mailing address, the individual needs to notify USCIS within ten (10) days.  If you filed your form online, a change of address may be completed through an existing USCIS online account; or by filing a Form AR-11 online.  The individual will need to both complete USCIS' Form AR-11 and contact the National Contact Center to update the mailing address for each pending application or petition.  For more information regarding changes of address, please see USCIS' webpage on Online Change of Address  which allows the individual to complete both steps electronically: https://egov.uscis.gov/coa/displayCOAForm.do.  You will need the receipt numbers for all pending applications or petitions.

If you wish to obtain additional information and explore USCIS’ Customer Service Tools and Resources, please visit USCIS Tools and Resources | USCIS.

If you receive new information or experience changed circumstances, please notify us by replying to this email.  Please reference your case number, note "Urgent Request" in the subject line, and describe your situation in detail.

Thank you for your patience as we work with USCIS to resolve your request for case assistance.

Sincerely,

This is total #######. Have no other words. Of course, uscis doesn't owe us citizenship but they owe us timely responses or at least clear projections on when certain steps or decisions can be made. We paid for this processing after all!

Dear friends,

It looks like I received the same standard reply:

"Dear Sir or Madam,

What can I say...frustrating, if not maddening...

This is really crazy. Government gave us a communication framework - if USCIS is not doing its job, you can request assistance from congressman, ombudsman or report outside of the normal processing times.

All of the listed above just say Sorry, we have no power over USCIS...

Yes, very disappointing...I did contact my congressman and hope to hear from him soon about my case. I am not holding my breath, though...

It would be interesting to know if ANY March, April and May 2020 filers had their case moved forward and what it was they did to accomplish this, if anything...

This whole thread is full of applicants who filed in April 2020 and are already citizens. Same goes for the March and May filers thread (I too was a May 2020 filer), so yes there are tons of cases that have "moved forward". But maybe that's not what you meant?

Well, from reading this thread, there seem to be quite few N-400 applicants with their case held up in an NBC and are very frustrated with the process. A lot of these people wonder what they can do, to expedite the process, but that seems to be difficult to answer.
