Hello Everyone,

Do you get a notice of interview through mail or can you also see the interview notice on the documents section on our personal login?

I think you get it through mail. It can also be posted on your document tab too.

You can find the interview letter under the documents tab in your online account. You will also get the exact same letter in the mailbox but it obviously takes longer.

Does anyone know how long it takes on average to get oath scheduled after the interview? Does a name change affect when your oath is scheduled (not the date of the oath but the date it was scheduled)?

It differs a lot between offices and states. Some do same-day oath ceremonies while others only do one oath once a month and the spots fill up quickly so many have to wait for several months.

With a name change it's very unlikely you will get a same-day oath even if your field office does same-day oaths. USCIS can't legally change anybody's name, only a judge can. So it has to go through court first, which means it takes a while. How long that "while" is varies greatly between counties.

My field office does not do same-day oaths for anybody anymore. I will have a name change and received my oath ceremony notice while I was still at my interview. So for me there was no delay in being scheduled for the oath ceremony and getting the notice itself, it happened right away at the office, despite the name change. And my oath ceremony is just a few days after the interview, so no weeks or months delay there either.

Thank you for the reply. I was asking because I had my interview a few days back and still did not get my oath scheduled. It just says I was placed in line to be scheduled. I was under the impression that it usually takes up to a few days to see a letter with oath date on USCIS website. Also, please correct me if I’m wrong, I throughly they have to schedule your oath within 30 days after your interview. That doesn’t mean you’ll get your oath within 30 days—just that it should be scheduled.

Never heard of any 30 day rule so I can’t confirm that.

Perfectly normal to see the status "in line to be scheduled" for a while before actually being scheduled, it can be hours, days or weeks. Check out the Chicago thread, they have a massive backlog from what I can understand, people wait forever for their oaths to be scheduled.

Again, it varies greatly between offices.

Received notice for interview dated March 12 for interview on April 15 (Long Island, NY).    Did not receive letter letter in the mail yet or any notification.   Randomly checked the USCIS website and saw the notice.
