N-400 April 2020 Filers

So I just checked my status online today. Looks like something changed, but I'm still waiting for an interview appointment.

 

Before the website says something like this case is taking longer than usual, there's nothing you can do, but now that text is no longer on my case. It just says:

 

Case Was Received And A Receipt Notice Was Emailed

On April 1, 2020, we received your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, Receipt Number IOEXXXXXXXXX, and mailed you a receipt notice or acceptance notice. It is being processed at our E-Filed Case Processing Section location. The notice describes how we will process your case. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

 

I got a biometric reuse paper since December 14th, but until now, nothing else happens on my case.

 

I think I'm going to start calling USCIS to check on the status.

Same exact situation here. It used to show some kind of estimate completion date (Month/Year) but that disappeared and now all it shows is the "Case Was Received And A Receipt Notice Was Emailed" status like yours does. Under "Case History" it just says "Invalid date Case Was Received and A Receipt Notice Was Emailed."

 

Still no updates here. Still waiting on biometrics.

This noticeinforms you that USCIS is able to reuse your previously captured fingerprints and other biometrics. USCIS will run the same security checks and useyour biometric data as in the past, however, it is not necessary for you to appear at a USCIS Application Support Center (ASC) for a biometrics appointment. The biometrics fee will not be refunded.

I was literally hopelessly browsing, reading all your old posts, after having already checked my case status/general account page and having found nothing. Saw this, checked my documents tab and voila, reuse notice! So relieved to finally be getting a move on!

Finally indeed!!! Hopefully in 2-4 weeks (or maybe even sooner) you will get interview notice under the Docs tab.

I wouldn't be so optimistic Got bio reuse on Jan 20 and no news since then

Seems hit or miss at the Chicago office as well. Some people seem to fly through after getting biometrics but others are still waiting for an interview. I think contacting and bothering the senators did help even though I got generic replies from both of them. Let's see what happens....

 

Also just as a note: my actual case status did not change. It's still the same old "Case Was Received and A Receipt Notice Was Emailed" so the only way I knew the biometrics were reused was looking under the "Documents" tab, no other notification was sent out.

Congratulations.   We made inquiry after we received the same notice.  This is what they answered:

 

USCIS is able to reuse your previously captured fingerprints and other biometrics. USCIS will run the same security checks and use your biometric data as in the past, however, it is not necessary for you to appear at a USCIS Application Support Center (ASC) for a biometrics appointment. The biometrics fee will not be refunded. 

 

Your application information has been entered into the system which schedules applicants for interviews at their local Field Office. Interview appointments are scheduled as slots become available at the Field Office. Once you have been scheduled for an appointment, you will receive an Interview Appointment Notice to appear at a certain date and time at your local Field Office. You must take the Interview Appointment Notice and photo ID to your appointment. Please review the Interview Appointment Notice for any other requirements.

I had my interview today in Chicago at 10:15am. The interview was very easy. The interviewer was overall very nice and made me feel at ease. She only asked for my passports, drivers license, and my green card. She went over most of the yes/no questions from n-400 and confirmed the submitted information (including any trips while n-400 was pending, college/employment, names/addresses/dates). She also asked how my husband and I met. Then, she said I was approved. I was surprised when she said that the oath ceremony might take place in a couple of months. She said I might have to wait around 2 months and it’s due to a backlog 😱 so I guess the waiting game continues

Congrats! Wow, that's really good to know that there's an oath backlog in Chicago. Are you also doing a name change?

Interesting. I wonder if the wait will be even longer for those who want to do a name change.
