N-400 April 2020 Filers

Hi all, we filed in April and received electronic notification this morning that my husband will be scheduled for his biometrics. We are waiting for the formal document that will tell us when and where but should get that in a few days. I know there’s been talk about skipping over biometrics If you already have on file but it’s not the case for us. Either way I’m happy that there’s some movement for this!

When we initially filed we received notice from the National Benefits Center. Not sure if it went to a local office but we are near Atlanta and would assume it would go there if it went anywhere.

NBC doesn't process anything per say, they just forward the case to your local office, which sounds like Atlanta in this case. All N-400 case processing times are local office dependent, and not service center dependent. So, it seems like Atlanta is speedier than others!

May 2021?? Ugh....that's awful. I think quite a few April files either have no estimated wait time, or they also have the "We are taking longer..." blurb.

Yeah I have the same thing “we are taking longer...” I filed on April 30th.

Just an update-we got the formal letter and they ARE using my husband’s past biometrics And fingerprints to process and he is not going in for an appointment. The letter we got just notified that we are still in process and nothing has been determined yet and no interview scheduled yet.  Good luck to all!

Well, that's good to hear! At least it's one step closer and there's no need to deal with redoing biometrics.

Congrats on the letter. When did your husband do his last biometrics? I am May 2020 filer and the last time I did biometrics was for my i751 case end of 2016. I have heard that the validity of the biometrics in only a year but I guess they are making exceptions due to Covid.

He did his biometrics probably in 2016 I believe when he removed conditions for his green card.

You were right @kranthi143 

 

I received another interview notice a couple of weeks after for my n400 so they have made it a combo interview which will happen in October! I feel like that has definitely helped speed up the process.

My biometrics are from March 2016 from my I485 and they just reused them for N400. I765 reused them too.

Thanks for the message. That is good news. I had my last biometric appointment in Dec 2016. Hopefully I will hear from USCIS soon.

Hello everyone,

I filed online for naturalization on April 7, 2020 

Last Friday I received the notice that USCIS will be reusing my biometrics from 2017 and yesterday I got the notification that my interview has been scheduled on October 14.

Hope everyone get good news soon.
