Right, we should all end up taking the old test. Anybody filing before Dec 1, 2020 gets the old test. There's a table with that info on the 2020 test page, here:

Guys,

i don’t post too often, but I am curious. Who said everyone will have to wait 2-3 years to get approved? Where is this timeline from?  I just think that can’t be right.
Also. there was someone a few pages back who has been approved and sworn right away. I mean, may be not in the next month or two, but by the summer we should see more and more of us getting our applications approved.

I am in MD, and my timeline did not change, still says May 2021 :)

My timeline didn't change until after I did my biometrics. It said April 2021 before going to the appointment and it updated to September 2021 a few hours after I left the ASC.

Yes, there's no clear criteria. It's all subjective, depending on what they read on your file.

I, for example, declared a traffic ticket, so I answered "yes" to the question: "have you ever received a citation"? A traffic ticket is not a crime, but you do receive a citation, so they might only check the yes or no answers. I'm pretty sure that's the reason they didn't reuse mine.

I think it's more random than that. It really depends on many factors like on who deals with your case. Unfortunately there does not seem to be a consistent logic behind this except if they are very old. Otherwise there have been people in various situations who have had their biometrics reused or not. It depends on the officer. Just like someone can be denied entry into the country based on whether the officer is satisfied with the reasons at the border or not. One may be satisfied, or not ask certain questions, but another one may feel differently.

Once we get past the biometrics, does the process speed up from there??

It all depends. The same lottery that gets you to/past the bio, is the same you have to wait for the interview and sometimes for the oath with the oath in certain cases now being as fast as same day as interview to a couple of months later. Really no telling even within same office.

Personally bio was taken 3 weeks before lockdown (back in February), but nothing since. Wait time was August and completion was September. Since August: "We are taking longer..."

It looks like the bio is not the bottleneck, please read my post above 😯☹️
I honestly also thought the bottleneck was the biometrics. I'm quite disappointed with an estimated 9-month wait for the interview.

Sorry about that. No the Bio is not the bottleneck. Bottlenecks can happen at any time. Some have waited a few months after approval during the interview to get the oath, while others got the oath the same day. There is no telling.

Nonetheless, keep the faith, there are situations where the wait times go down faster, in some cases by a couple of months.

My office still says 8.5 to 12 months. But I don't know from which day they are estimating that because from April 2020 to September 2021, it's 17 months 🤦🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️😒

8.5 to 12 months is an average of the majority of completion times. Some take less than 8.5 months while others take longer than 12 months, but the majority (check online for percentages) fall between 8.5 and 12 months.

Hi All,

My interview was this morning, super straight forward and approved at the spot. The oath ceremony was already scheduled for this upcoming Friday. Can't believe I am so close to the end of this waiting game! Good luck everyone. Seems like they are slowly getting through the case load.
