I don't know if an attorney is needed if you've already submitted? You can usually find answers and advice to straightforward cases here. @ShawnSpiker set up a myuscis account online and you can upload docs that way.

You don't need a lawyer unless you have a problem with your application or you're not willing to take the time to carefully review all the procedures and requirements. I've done everything myself from the initial green card, to preliminary work / travel authorization, to N-400 and had zero problems. All the information is out there, lawyers are leeches in general no lawyer is going to turn down your request even if they know you don't need them

I agree. I also did it all myself. I’ve heard so many horror stories I’d rather stay away from lawyers as much as possible.

Just an update for April filers. I filed last April 1. And today I got an update that interview was scheduled and that they will reuse my old biometrics! April filers moving along!  My field office is Lawrence, MA

It sounds like people whose biometrics are able to be reused are getting interviews scheduled. For those of us whose biometrics have already expired beyond the 15 months, the wait continues...

I have seen people in N-400 Facebook groups that got messages/letters about how their biometrics will be reused even though it was 6 years ago since their last biometrics. 

 

My theory (and that's all it is) is that those who have fast field offices and can be scheduled for interviews fast, they get their biometrics reused as they can be interviewed faster that way, don't have to wait to have a biometrics appintment scheduled etc. 

 

I think those of us who have a slow field office and a long estimated case completion won't get anything at all at this point. Maybe the biometrics  backlog will be gone by the time my field office has time to interview me, and I will have a biometrics appointment then.

Local office here is "medium" fast (so not really slow but not fast either), case still showing a 5 months wait on myuscis. I also checked a case tracker app called Lawfully, it's kind of awful and I don't like it (seems mostly like a promo tool to find a lawyer) but it shows my field office wait as being most likely to be processed between Dec 26, 2020–March 27, 2021. That does seem more accurate than what USCIS shows.

Lol, yeah. I used to use another app (I have Android) but the developer removed it from the store. I emailed him and he said he would add it back "soon"...so until then, still looking for a good case tracker app. The selection is not great.
