I'm sorry if I'm asking some things that have already been addressed on here, I did do some research but I wasn't able to find answers.

1. The online form for I-130 asks if current address is the same as mailing address, but it doesn't have a field to enter the dates I've been living at this address. Do I need to enter my current address in the address history as well in order to enter the dates of residency at this address? If so, do I enter today's date as the "Until __/___/____" date? even though I will continue to live at this address?

2. Petitioner's Parents Information: My father is not on my birth certificate. Do I leave the fields blank and write only my mother's information? If so, do I need to add an explanation letter about this or will they understand by seeing my birth certificate (included in the package)?

3. Since I'm filing I-130 online for spouse abroad, do I need to send the I-130a separately in the mail? Or do I attach it to the I-130 as a PDF file?

4. As the petitioning spouse, am I considered a "preparer" of the I-130a?

Thanks in advance!

1.  You don't have an end date for a current address

2.  There is no question about names on your birth certificate.  If you know who your father is, enter the known information.  If you don't "know" and your mother doesn't know, that's a whole other can of worms, but you would enter Unknown.

3. Is there not an option to submit it online?  There may be once you get started as the online filing is dynamic based on what you've completed so far

4. Not necessary to have a preparer.  You can just leave that blank on all forms.

thank you for answering all my questions!
When checking the box that indicates that my mailing address is the same as my current address, it didn’t have a space in the online form to enter a date of when I started living at this address. But if I enter the same address in address history it requires an end date as well...

I am the petitioning spouse. Both me and my husband are having a hard time remembering some dates for work history for the past 5 years. I have a general idea with most of mine but as for my husband's work history, he can't even remember how many months he worked at some of his previous jobs. He is concerned that he wouldn't be able to get his employment records that far back, and one of the companies has since closed down. Do we need to write a cover letter explaining some of this for dates we are uncertain about?

If you don't have exact dates, you can enter approximate dates.....

Complicated family situation.

To put this simply, because of his parents custody and remarriage and what not, my husband and his sisters had different last names when my husband was in middle school. Therefore my husband asked the school to allow him to use the same last name as his sisters at school.

All of his legal documents are in his legal last name, but some middle school documents might be under the other last name. Is this completely irrelevant or should we put this last name under the “other names” field on the I-130 form?

Not just the last name but the entire name he went by

YMMV

I did the same from grade 3 through 10.  I treated it as irrelevant because no such documents are ever requested. Another option would be to enter the information, then explain it in the space on the last page.  Option 2 is probably better, but didn't exist in 2005.

In order to add additional employment history in Part 7. Additional Information,

I understand that I would enter "Page number: 2" and "Part number: 2". But because this is additional employment (Employer 3), What do I enter for the item number? Employer number 2 is item number 5 through 8b.

Also, is it acceptable for me to enter all of the necessary information on a single additional employer in space 3.d of part 7 (the space has 10 lines, and would be enough room for me to list the company name, street number and name, city, province, postal code, country, occupation, date from, and date to.)

Part 2. Information About Your Employment says "Provide your employment history for the last five years, whether inside or outside the United States. Provide your current employment first. If you are currently unemployed, type or print "Unemployed" in Item Number 1. below. If you need extra space to complete this section, use the space provided in Part 7. Additional Information."

My husband has had 7 employers in the last 5 years.

ADDITIONAL QUESTION:

One of the restaurants my husband worked for has multiple locations, and the location he worked at has since been shut down. We can't find the address because of this. What should we do about this? Would a simple comment that this location has since been closed down suffice?

In Section 7 leave the item number blank.   If you need more space just put all of it on a sperate sheet.

Just list the main or corporate location if the time as contiguous.   Otherwise you can just use the best information you have.
