None of that contradicts itself. People are looking to the leader for answers. The leader needs to make it about the country.

 

Not about his ratings or his corporate friends, like MyPillow.

 

Considering that this is the definition of gaslighting, I don't think that word means what you think it means.

Gaslighting is a form of psychological manipulation in which a person or a group covertly sows seeds of doubt in a targeted individual, making them question their own memory, perception, or judgment, often evoking in them cognitive dissonance and other changes such as low self-esteem.

The attempts of the media to gaslight people derive from not only handing the deranged left their daily confirmation bias but trying to sow seeds of doubt in moderates and independents by narrative driving. It happens to work on weak-kneed individuals who are more prone to giving the left their way by fraudulent cognitive dissonance, as in, the invented outrage surrounding every single thing Trump does, case in point with your "corporate friends" analogy. Any corporation making masks right now is a "corporate friend". Clearly this one single company is a target for you because of the same orange man bad narrative. Clearly the gaslight express has a devout passenger.
