Watching the past couple months, I have noticed there have been a few people who got RFEs requesting the past three tax returns/transcripts instead of just the past one. The online instructions only say that you need to include three if you think it will help your case.

I have enough income in my most recent tax year to support my spouse. I have considered also sending the two previous tax years just in case, but I can't currently get access to them because I had to make slight changes to my returns a few months ago(no amount changes), and I have no idea if IRS has even updated them.

Have people that have recently been DQ'd only needed the most recent year of tax return/transcript or all three?

Thank you so much! I have copies of the immigration form that you must fill in order to enter to Mexico. In mexico your allowed to stay for 180 days as a tourist with one of those immigration forms. When the first 180 days were about to end I went to immigration office here in Mexico City and according to them in my case the only thing for me to do was leave the country and come back in order to get a new immigration form and stay another 180 days. That’s what I’ve been doing. It is totally legal.

I left Venezuela on March last year when the whole country suffered an electric power blackout. Demonstrations on the steers. Nothing was working.. no water.. no supermarkets so no food.  And the list goes on and on.

David Ive been reading all your comments and I strongly advise you get some type of temporary visa wherever you are currently living at. We all understand the current situation in Venezuela, I personally have helped more than 60 Venezuelans here in Brazil to get residency after they left there homes......that being said, using the current situation in Venezuela as an excuse might not be enough for an immigration officer at an interview. I notice you mention Venezuelas situation in almost all your comments and I just don't want you to try to use that as an excuse at the interview and run into trouble. Thinking like an American based off what you've been saying, that means any person from a country like Venezuela can go to America and stay on tourist visas and come back after 90 days would be enough and fair.....but Americans don't work like that, they like things to be in order and official (allegedly). If Mexico says its fine, then ok, but remember, you're not applying for a Mexican green card, you want an American green card. I hope you understand what I'm trying to say.

Try and get a temporary visa in Mexico (I know they have them, I almost got one once).

Also, tell your husband to request his Tax Return Transcripts for the last 3 years. Submit those AND the Schedules for his tax return. Im self employed also and that's what worked for me.

I unfortunatey just received the dreaded RFE for several reasons....  It says that for my country I need to present as part of the Police Records, also Penitenciary and Judiciary Records. My country is on lockdown and I am currently in the US so that is impossible. I will try to get in touch with NVC to ask if it is possible that I just bring them to the interview, which I read it worked for someone. I also got both AOS (sponsor and joint sponsor) rejected but I have no way of knowing why, it only says incorrect/missing items so I don't know how to do it correctly. I made sure I uploaded all pages (even when blank) and in handwriting, so I know it is not that. Will they tell me on the phone? I have to know so I don't make the same mistake! They also rejected the Tax Return of my Joint Sponsor stating that I need to upload all sides, which I did (complete 1040)... so yeah... I am lost... sad... but have no choice but to do it again.

On another note, the good news  would be that they seem to be taking the first submission date. I submitted everything on Feb 1st, then added a translation on Feb 4th and then added supporting evidence and extra documents (after reading about people getting RFE for that) on Feb 24, so I wasn't expecting my case to be revised but I guess I was counted as Feb 1st.

Hey folks have a quick question.  we got document qualified on 10 Apr but when i checked our case out it says my husbands police certificate is incomplete.  He submitted it with the orginal package but it will expire at the end of April   Does anyone know whether we have to reload a new one before the interview or take a new one to the interview.  We received the email saying that we are DQ but this has me worried it will slow our interview status down when the embassy opens back up.   Any insight would help me out

I'm really sorry to hear not only about the RFE but also about the confusion about how to proceed now. I would highly recommend calling NVC to ask for the reason(s) your AOS was rejected and then to find out from them exactly what you need to do to fix the problem. If the first person you speak with isn't helpful, or if you feel uncertain about what they advised you, then try again. They don't want you to make mistakes repeatedly, so I'm sure they'll help you if they're in a position to. Remember, the NVC operators are there for just this reason – to help us – even if it feels sometimes like they aren't.

As for some of the mistakes they say you made, you should also be able to have them check on this, especially if you feel you have proof that you did things correctly. Hopefully they will in fact respect the first date of your submission, but as far as that goes, it seems to depend on whose desk your case happens to land on. Good luck and keep us posted on what happens!

I suggest that you call NVC for clarification to avoid/minimize delay & mind games.

Oí.. thank you.  I know. We tried it at the immigration office here in Mexico City. I spoke with a officer and explain the whole situation. They said that they weren’t giving temporarily residency that my only choice was to leave the country for a day and travel back. I have copies of each one of the immigration form that you must fill at the port of entry. I’m planning to write a letter and explain everything and attach those forms and upload on additional documents.

mto obrigado..

Congrats on getting DQed.

I read some other posts where others have called in to inquire on police certificates during the pandemic and NVC has said bringing the certificates to the interview is sufficient. I would suggest calling them to confirm this and to ask if you can re-upload docs after getting DQed and if that will affect your current status.

The number is (603) 334-0700

Best of luck

Hey guys.
Me and my husband we got our i-130 approved 5 days ago and received our NVC case number on the same day. Unfortunately we lost our jobs because of Corona and had to spend our savings, so won't be able to pay the fees and start to upload our documents yet. We were not expecting an approval before september so it we were totally off guard...

My question to you guys is the following: my husband is usc and unfortunately his taxes situation is not very organized. He was able to file for this year but the past 2 years he didn't with no real reason for it. He will contact an accountant to try and get this done as soon as possible. His dad will be our joint sponsor, so my question is: when we eventually have the money to pay the fees, should we go ahead having the taxes information just for 2019 or wait until we have the previous years? I saw some conflicting information about this since his dad will provide his information also.
