Thank you all for your messages and sweet interest on my last update.

 

Guess what ? About our RFE, it is our lawyer's fault (the one i wanted to get rid of around Christmas but we finally decided to go along with him). He uploaded the translation of our Marriage Certificate, not the original marriage certificate. 😤😤😤

We are, as you can imagine, super pissed with him. To get an RFE for something so basic and easy!!! Well, that's us!

Back at the bottom of the pile.

The virus makes already everything hard to plan but now with an extra 2 months delay... jeeeeze. And not sure when I will see my husband next.

I will stop complaining now.

We never know why things happen but they happen for a reason and thats the only thing that ever keeps me sane.

Yes I told them the lawyer that we did not need the translation... early in the process.

I agree with you, things happens for a reason. I believe in that too. No other choice but to be patient.

No, NVC states that if you are going to have your interview in the country where your marriage certificate has been issued, you don't need the translation. BUT if your Embassy says otherwise, then listen to your Embassy. But most important, make sure you upload the original document. Don't do like us (our lawyer).

I feel you, Alix. My lawyer who was supposed to check through all my documents before submission had apparently overlooked on their part. All in all, it caused 3 months' delay because it took me over a month to get the document I needed. I hope your re-submission won't take too long for the review.

Hi there, not such a big update like a complete case but thought I'd share the good news. After one email to asknvc (Dec 19) and  two public inquiries (Jan and March 2020) to change the consulate (interview location), on Saturday morning I sent a new inquiry after getting an automatic response to the last one saying the whole '' As a result of the global COVID-19 outbreak, NVC is temporarily working with reduced staff. During this time, we ask that you only contact us with urgent medical or humanitarian inquiries, or necessary case updates that are still pending. If you submitted an online inquiry and have not received a response, you may  re-submit your inquiry''.

 

To my surprise, two hours later (on a Saturday!) I got a response that my change was accepted and I was given a new case number to log in. I resubmitted the enquiry precisely because it fell under the category of a ''necessary case update'', so I guess since I insisted after that automatic email they did review it on the spot. Gives me hope that they are following a certain protocol. This comes as a huge relief since I have been stuck trying for months and with countries on lockdown and so much uncertainty, that issue could have costed me months to fix.
