Hey guys!

Just looking for some information regarding the n400 civics test, to assist me in my studying.

Is the test verbal or written?  (Ie.  Does the interviewer ask you the questions, or do you read them from a sheet of paper)

Also, is it multiple choice or just a question and I have to provide the correct answer?

Thanks!

Hope everyone is staying safe and healthy during these troubling times.

It’s verbal. They ask and you have to provide the correct answer. Thankfully if you get the first 6 correct, they stop there. Google citizenship questions and you’ll see all kinds of tools to help you.

-10 multiple choice questions. You only need to answer correct 6 of 10 questions. If the question got many answer, you only need to answer one.

-One read and write question. You answer that question and write it down on a paper.

When my wife did her N400, they gave her a booklet with the possible questions.  I quizzed her on it a lot.  Also, there are YouTube sample interviews that she also found very helpful.

You can get a PDF of the booklet here.

They’re not multiple choice. It’s a little confusing because all the prep has it in multiple choice form, but in the interview they ask you verbally and you provide the answer. At least this is how it was at my interview 4 months ago.

Thanks everyone!  I have the booklet, and I’m basically writing it out as well (that helps me learn), but was wondering what the format was bc the booklet is sorta multiple choice.

Again, thank you for the input!

For questions with a choice of correct answers, you only have to use one.

There are a number of questions that they ask you two of ... these are all worded like this in the prep book (example two rights in Declaration of Independence, two cabinet positions etc)... I got one of those.
